Well we are here, Round 2. A good chance for those 5 clubs who lost too redeem themselves. A few questions will be answered this week.
Can perennial Preliminary Finalists Scarborough get a win this weekend? They have lost their past 3 games in WAAFL B Grade!
Can Wembley get a new win at their new home? They too have lost their past 3 games in WAAFL B Grade!
Is the distance from the clubrooms at MacDonald Reserve closer than the facilities at Onion Ridge?
Will MrM be able to indulge in hot chips at the football this Saturday?
The answers I seek will be revealed 5pm, Saturday. Until then let's focus on some football
Hamersley Carine v Collegians @Carine Open Space
Hamersley are fresh off a good away win and will be looking forward to keeping that momentum going this weekend. First game at home is a great chance to put up another star in the W column. Collegians had a close win, ("apparently" in dubious circumstances) but will be out to keep that up as they need a good start to the season before Uni holidays start midway through the season. Should be a close match at the ground with the Auskick goal posts. I'm thinking that the boys at Hamersley will be a happy lot.
Hamersley by 2 goals.
Swan Athletic v Maddington @Fawell Park
Swan Ath got their B Grade campaign underway with a good start under new coach. I heard they had an indifferent preseason, but if you're producing results like that in your League and Reserves first up, then what does it matter. Maddington would have fancied themselves last weekend but came up short. Every win counts in what's expected to be a tight season. Therefore losing a game at home isn't a great start. Unluckily for the Bulls I can't see them winning here either.
Swan Athletic by 4 goals.
Whitford v Wanneroo @MacDonald Reserve MOTR
I know what you're thinking, seriously MrM! Two Wanneroo game's as MOTR to start the season, it's ok I won't make a habit of it. But if you don't think this is game of the round, well you don't know much and also you're a FOOL. And MrM isn't MrT...I take no pity on any fool.
Whitford (North Padbury) did not start 2015 as they would have liked. Forget the timekeeper, from what I heard if it wasn't for the backline, playing extraordinary, they would have lost the game regardless. Back at home in front of a parochial crowd they will be looking for that W, otherwise sitting at 0-2 you're playing catch up all season. Wanneroo got off to a great start and will be ready to roll again on Saturday. West Perth have a bye, so all Falcons supporters should get down and watch some local football. Weather forecast looks wonderful so should be no excuses. I'm thinking that Wanneroo might just grab a win here, in a tough game.
Wanneroo by 2 goals
Scarborough v Kingsway @Millington Reserve
Well one thing is for sure. At least one of these Round 1 losers, will get some points here. Scarborough should be ropable after losing Round 1, MrM checked the teams, Scarborough still had a strong side on the park ( not sure the rumour about 9 out was correct?!) so I bet they will be ready to go. Kingsway had a tough opponent first up, but would have hoped for better in the top two grades. Scarborough should win here and show why they are the favourites this season.
Scarborough by 5 goals.
Wembley v Stirling @Pat Goodridge Reserve
Well it's the battle of the ex East Perth products here. Wembley were just off their game slightly last weekend and should expect better from themselves. It's only Round 1 and they did get off to a slow start last season, but they can't count on a fast finish again. At a new home, I think they can definitely improve. Stirling, had a good win over Scarborough and will take confidence from that, even if they don't have a Colts Side, Their Reserves side was smashed and it looks like Thirds had a forfeit....
But still it's all about the League side. Can they win here..MrM thinks it could happen. But I'm not tipping it will.
Wembley by 3 goals.
Looks like a good round of football ahead. Looking forward to catching up with some gents at North Padbury. First to correctly point out MrM gets a beer from the great man himself. Just remember, if you think you know MrM, think again.
Lastly I hope everybody has got there hot chip situation sorted. Went to see my good friend Tony Galati and he assures me, free spuds are still on offer. So get them whilst you can. Free potatoes! Perhaps the second best thing ever made behind free Wi-Fi at a local café.
