Was just seen what everyone thinks of playing footy on Anzac day. I no it's close to the start of the season but I really think it should be a general bye. I no we got the bye for wa day but that's no were near more important than Anzac

Absolutely agree this is not a day for footy. Fixtures should have been adjusted

I honestly couldn't think of anything better to do than have a great game of footy on ANZAC day to respect the diggers. As long as the proper respects are paid I am sure that is what they would have wanted.

I agree All the kings horses, I couldn't think of a bigger honour than playing on Anzac day. The reason they fought for us was so that we can enjoy the life we have now and football is a huge part of the Australian way of life.

Nothing stopping the players from still getting down to the dawn service. As you have said as long as the proper respects are paid.

Willetton have adjusted their fixtures for the day in conjunction with the WAAFL, the visiting club (Carlisle) and our local RSL.

We went to the Riverton RSL for advice on the matter, and they came back and said that if we didn't start until after 11:00am (when the main service concludes in the city), that we had their blessing to play. Following this advice, we shifted our start times back by 30 minutes for our Colts, Reserves and League games. We are also planning an ANZAC observance before the league game.

Agree, I think it is great to play on this special day. Well done Willeton and Carlisle, I think that is a great initiative to push the games back.

Hopefully other clubs can do the same so that everyone who is expected to play on that day can pay their respects in the manner they wish.

Whitford Amateur Football Club is holding its annual ANZAC Day Remembrance ceremony in conjunction with the Ocean Reef RSL, at MacDonald Reserve. The service will commence at 3.00pm with the league game between WAFC and Wembley Football Club being pushed back to 3.30pm to accommodate the formal on-field ceremony.

Thanks go to Wembley AFC and the Ocean Reef RSL for their support in this annual event.

Ta's has a big day planned, there is a luncheon at 1pm, and a ceremony prior to the league game, They have had a special set of jumpers made with the service number on them of old boys from the colleges who died in WW1, each player will represent that digger on the day.

This is all fantastic to hear! No bye needed when you have clubs organising such great events. Well done to all involved. Really shows the spirit of our wonderful game of footy. Nothing beats it!
