They seem pretty good at recruiting though - even mid season.

I think Kelmscott and Kalamunda will drop down, with probably Wembley and Scarborough coming up.

Can understand the pessimism for Kelmscott if King's report is true, but why the doom and gloom for Kalamunda. They made the 5 last year and were very competitive. May have lost one of their better players to Perth, but any other major losses?

TK wrote: A little early to predict with any confidence until we get a feel for recruiting and player losses, but would be foolish to forget CBC after finishing well clear on top last year before a straight sets exit in very tight finals against Uni and Wesley Curtin. Not much between those three last year and a fair gap to fourth. TAs may close that gap if they can secure their rumoured big name recruits outside the coach and North Freo may be competitive after a disappointing B Grade GF loss. Turnover can be significant in both numbers and quality (e.g. Kalamunda have lost Wolfenden back to WAFL with Perth) and all speculation at this stage, but I'll take an early stab.

CBC
Wesley Curtin
University
TA
North Fremantle

North Beach
Kalamunda
Kelmscott
West Coast
Mount Lawley

TK I think you will find that Wolfenden is a High Wycombe player not Kalamunda

think you are pretty spot on with the ladder though I agree with your top 5, bottom 5

Kalamunda
North Beach
West Coast
Mt Lawley
Kelmscott

Surely a premiership winning B grade coach would be given the opportunity to take them (Kelmscott) into A grade or has he gone elsewhere. There league side is alway a pretty good side but as well documented there reserves and colt will struggle to be around mid season.
Heard they have a couple of quality recruits on there way.

My mistake, Justgetakick. Think I was getting him confused with Brett Van Groningen. Agree with Turtle - a big jump from B Grade to A Grade and sides coming up are more likely to head straight back down than threaten for the flag. Just staying in A grade or perhaps making the bottom end of the 5 is a good effort first year up. I know Wesley Curtin did back to back coming up a couple of years ago but that was the first time ever and, having only been demoted for the one year, knew what it would take to become competitive in A Grade and did not just bask in the glory of a B Grade flag and think that those players would win at for them in A Grade. Far more yoyos like Hamersley Carine than that fairytale story at Wesley Curtin.

Wolfenden started off at Ath last year and then went to Northam. I don't think Kala will be losing anyone and don't be surprised to see Luke Blackwell have a kick there if he isn't going country. They definitely won't be getting relegated this year. Kelmy are Certs for relegation and then a battle between Lawley and West Coast.

no chance of Blackwell up the hill or definitely nothing mentioned of it

will chase money from country or from around the ammo's from the clubs that like to through $$$ around

loosing Brett van Groningen will be a disappointment, great footballer and great bloke

Hey Cantbuyagoal. Is one of those quality recruits going to Kelmscott involve an ex-afl east freo retiree by any chance?
