A salary cap would push the smaller clubs even further away from making the top grades and even kill some off when then run into debt to pay players. Players will always deviate towards big clubs with big reputations. Take for example North Freos 5ths they would give all clubs in C grade a run for their money.....why? Depth due to size of the club and the reputation of the club.

Having said that some clubs do pay out big bucks but its laughable as they are the sides who don't end up getting anything out of it.

Turtle, "pull your head in mate" - Sorry just wanted to say that to add some humour to the topic...................

There are numerous clubs out there that pay in one shape or another, Unfortunately for your argument coaches talk - or they did in the grade I was in this year, and coaches were happy to talk about what they were giving to players to get them to their clubs. In fact a couple of coaches I coached against this year had made it clear they had asked their clubs for more money next year if the clubs wanted more success. It happens mate, players get paid to pay amateur football and its not just in A Grade.

I agree make a salary cap for all and if clubs cant manage that properly they will go broke. Community football will still go on, new clubs will be created by new areas and old clubs will fold if they run out of cash or are managed badly.

Call me naive but I don't think payment of players happens at every club. Certainly it doesn't happen at my club,...if it does well I have no knowledge of it and I'd like to think I know all.
I am aware some clubs do, but where are these people getting money from. Paying one or several players $200+ a week would take a huge dent out of club finances. So my question is where do clubs get this extra money from?
I say no salary cap, because people would still break that. The fact is we play amateur football so abide by the rules, it's simple. I don't even think some clubs in A Grade pay players.

"pull your head in" ha ha ha good line I'll give you that one.

Well its easy as club give best player awards so it would be a coincidence thst some players win awards everyweek.

Desperate clubs who have no way of attracting players based on reputation would pay for sure. Why would you pay players in the lower grades??

Mr M, with the variations of drinks prices at some clubs id say there are clubs out there guilty of ripping off their members to pay their players.......

It happens boys has done for a long time and will continue to do so.

Mr M you also say you think you know everything, and you say this doesn't happen at your club, do you hold a position on your clubs committee so you can guarantee this doesn't happen, or do you just hope your club is upholding the integrity of the comp and you hope they are doing the right things?

Just asking mate,

Ok I'll test the water next year.

I'll offer a club some money to go and recruit a player. I wont say which club or the player they recruited and we'll see how it pans out.

Well it certainly wouldn't come from our bar prices some of the cheapest in Western Australia I believe.

Well Premiership Hangover without revealing my identity I'd say I am well advised to know if payment was happening. If it is happening under the table without my knowledge, well then I'd be embarrassed.
The only people I know who do get paid are the coaches. Also I believe the amout of money you can give out in awards is capped at $350 for the whole team and the highest you can pay 1 player is $100.

You still haven't answered my question Mr M, are you either president, coach or Treasurer of Wanneroo, in which case you can guarantee that no one gets paid, or are you just hoping like a lot of people that your club has integrity and follwos the rules but you cant guarantee that.

Now I know your not the president or the coach, I know both of them, so are you the treasurer or are you just someone hoping that your club does right but not really knowing.

As to your other comments, your drinks prices are not to bad, but there are cheaper clubs out there, and yes you are right you are only allowed to pay $300.00 per team with the top award of $100.00, who polices that one????
