Well, here it is round 18, I know I am getting older, but fark me time goes quick now days, another regular season over and finals is nigh! Just looking back at ladder predictions from posts at the start of the year and the big surprises have been Dianella Morley, most predicted them to be bottom 3 and they have locked in 2nd place, not sure how much of Nollamara’s demise attributed to that though? While Ellenbrook seem to be the one that have slid the most, with most having them in the top 3.

Vicko21, would love to hear your thoughts on the difference between C2 and C3, correct me if I am wrong, but your boys came down last year? For us C3 was what we expected, very similar to C4, yet has a couple extra teams who are up and about, basically three good teams last year, where we have 5-6 good teams this year.

Any way onto this weeks games,

Manning Vs East Freo

What a way to go out for these teams! Both had a very hard year and manning will be looking to re group in C4 next year. Although bragging rights and a chance to really celebrate a terrible year has come and both teams will be gunning for a win here. Having played East last week they played well in the first and then threw in the towel, if they do that this week I feel manning can have a win, in saying that ill take east freo by 5 goals

Brentwood Vs Ellenbrook

Well it is basically Ellenbrooks elimination final this week, if they can beat us they secure a top 5 spot, if not, that is curtains, for what I would think, for a disappointing year. I think Ellenbrook would have expected top 5 and to be fair they are still in it, just have to beat us this week! For us, still plenty at stake, if we can win and DM do us a favour then we get the double chance, we lose and basically we stay 4th. The last thing we want is to lose and DM win, that will really be a waste of effort for what has been a pretty good year, so we will be going out guns a blazing to try and get some form leading into finals. Coming off a good win last week, we really need to build on that this week and send a statement out to the comp that we are no longer limping! Brentwood by 8 goals!

Ballajura Vs DM

This one is game of the round for me, Balla are very good at their tiny oval and will be fighting to secure 3rd spot and a double chance, coming off a convincing loss to ellenbrook, balla will want to bounce back here and bounce back well! Not much at stake for DM considering 2nd spot is secured, coming off teh bye they should be fresh and with the prospect of playing Balla again the following week surely you would like to get that mental edge. I am cheering DM all the way, but I think Balla will win comfortably bit of reverse psychology there!

Kenwick Vs Cockburn Lakes

Cockburn had a good win against manning, but this week will be all Kenwick, just doing some fine tuning for their run at the flag, Kenwick by plenty. The ressies will be a good game though with Cockburn loading up for a finals attack and Kenwick running with the normal team, wouldn’t be surprised to see Cockburn get up in that one

SwanView have the bye, and I am expecting a couple of them down at the kennel cheering us on!

this season has flew by with just the final deciding round to go before finals.

Manning v East Freo
this game comes down to little more than pride. with manning having to make up 20% if they want to avoid relegation. it has been a very rough two years for the rippers and I think East Freo will double their win total and have something to celebrate.

Brentwood v Ellenbrook
Brentwood looked all set to play off in an elimination final against Swan View but Ellenbrooks late charge means this game has significance for both sides. if Brentwood win they have a chance to sneak into third while if Ellenbrook Win they knock Swan view out of the finals thanks to their percentage. I love repeated games and if ellenbrook win they play brentwood next week again in an elimination final so i'll take ellenbrook by 2 goals.

Ballajura v Dianella
this is another game where both teams can't afford to lose. if Dianella lose by enough they could lose home ground advantage the week after, if Ballajura lose they could lose the all important double chance. I'll take Ballajura to win but remain third leading them into a fantastic final at Dianella. Balla by 3 goals

Kenwick v Cockburn
we have sewn up top spot but aren't going to rest on our laurels. we know top spot means nothing if you can't continue the form into finals. games against Cockburn are always good contests and in front of our past players and sponsors we will be looking to end the home and away season with a bang.

Swan view are in the worst possible position, having to watch other games in the hope they go the right way to allow them to play finals.

the reserves ladder can change even more than the league ladder this week. if Brentwood knock off the ellenbrook reserves who have struggled in the last few weeks they could give Ballajura a chance to take top spot provided they can beat Dianella and saying that if Ballajura beat Dianella that opens the door for our reserves to possibly gain the double chance. also if those results all happen Brentwood would jump to 5th.

I have no doubt there will be some people jumping straight onto the WAAFL website chasing results after their games.

brentwood vs ellenbrook ressie. ellenbrook 10 goals, league ellenbrook 5 points.
Balla vs dianella ressie. balla by 7 goals, league dianella by 5 goals.
kenwick vs cockburn ressie, kenwick 4 goals, league kenwick 12 goals.

clarkson, you recon there is much difference between C2 and C3?

C2 last year seemed like they all tried to adopt the AFL strategy, all the games felt more open and mobile with much fewer stoppages than we have this year. not saying a team from this grade wouldn't be competitive against them but they would have to adapt to a different style of football. it's hard to defend man on man when the oppositions whole team wants to run both ways.

you only need to get 2 to put passing you out of reach.

cheers so you would say your team is about the same but finished on top in C3, while getting relegated in C2! wow that shows a big gap in grades

Carlisle were last years C3 premiers and are top in C2 so not that much difference.
