Maggies, not much to say on here these days, with very little contribution from other clubs.
Our League boys are doing well;
League 5-1
Reserves 3-3 (hoping to get points back from the Association making it 4-2)
Colts 2-3
Just plodding along quietly, mate, big fortnight ahead against Noranda and Carlisle.
Canningvale vs Warnbro
Wowweee, what a day of football yesterday in some of the most trying conditions I have seen. At one stage during the Colts game, I couldn't see the other side of the field.
Colts;
A game of catch up for our Cubs. They let Warnbro kick the first 5 goals of the game and from there it was always going to be tough in what was obviously going to be a low scoring game. Warnbro were harder at the ball and had more run early in the game only for a few of our more experienced Cubs to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and try to pull them back into it. Got to within a goal with a couple of minutes to go only for the Swans to kick a late one and win by 2-goals. Great effort from both sides.
Reserves;
Genuine thriller - the reason we all play footy. Unfortunately for the Cougars, we were on the wrong side of a one point margin at the final siren. In the game itself, Warnbro had a 2-goal lead for much of the match. The Cougars had a decent side on the paddock and managed to kick the last two goals of the game to be within a point. 30-seconds left and the ball is in the forward line.. unfortunately, the Swans were able to get a quick clearance to win the game. A great effort from both sides, really proud of our boys. Only one side note, one muppet from the Swans decided to go the biff and knocked out one of our first year players (would weigh around 50kg) real tough act I thought. Shame, because it put a sour note on what was otherwise a cracking day of footy.
League;
Old and Fat Loves-A-Goal was dragged into the 1's this week after a few injuries to the Cougar forward line players... much to his disgust..
After two touch ups last season against Warnbro, we were keen to get one back at the Den.
First term saw the Swans get the first two goals on the board whilst the Cougars struggles to overcome the blustery conditions only registering 0.7
Second quarter saw the Cougars have most of the play, only to register 3-goals. Warnbro this time were unable to kick a major in the term. Half time saw the scores 3-goals to 2-goals with all 5-goals kicked at one end.
The premiership quarter finally saw goals from the Eastern end, lucky enough for the Cougars, we managed to kick four of them and limited Warnbro to just the one, giving us a 4-goal lad at the final change in trying conditions.
Final term was much of the same, we kicked another 3 goals and they kicked one or two giving us a hard fought but comfortable 5-goal win.
Interestingly, we played each other in the wet last season and Warnbro moved the ball with precision, not sure if they have lost any guys, or if we have got better, but a completely different outcome to last years match.
Other results show Carlisle still the team to beat, Thornlie beating Basso to further show they are contenders, Mossie plodding along there and there abouts and 100% the most surprising result of the year for me showing SNESA beating Noranda. Now it seems the Noranda blokes have gone quiet on here lately, but I would love to hear a run down on that game??
-a very sore Loves-A-Goal.
