I am writing this as I sit and contemplate life at 3:37am Monday September 16th. So stay with me please, there may be a few more spelling mistakes than usual and I may offend you.
Well Saturday saw the 2013 C1 season come to an end. It was an appalling day for 5 reasons.
1. The Weather
2. Canteen to far away from where I was sitting (still closer than Onion Ridges though)
3. Wanneroo Reserves lost.
4. After eventually walking to the canteen. I found out that they sold Crinkle Cut hot chips
5. Wanneroo league lost.
I thought that the Oval was in bad condition until Mr.G.Palmer informed us all that Lathlain Oval was actually in very good condition compared to Leederville and Gil Fraser.
As usual I arrived for the colts game. I saw that Kingsway had kicked 4 goals already and were making use of the howling wind. Just before the quarter time siren a Kingsway player grabbed a Kingsley player around the neck and gave away a free kick. Then in what I can only describe as the silliest thing to happen ever (or so I thought) a Kingsway player came charging in from no where and flattened the Kingsley player after the siren, gifting them 50 and a goal, and momentum. Kingsway would not kick another goal for the entire match. Kingsley utilised the breeze in he second quarter and were within striking distance at half time.
Kingsway failed to make use of the very strong breeze and wasted the ball going forward as it continued to piss down. Kingsley came home strong and scores were level at the 15 minute mark of the last quarter.
Remember how I said before that I saw the silliest thing ever...
Well that was until the scores were level in the last quarter and a Kingsway player rushed a behind. They couldn't even get the ball out of there defensive 50 let alone go against the breeze, travel to the other end of the field and kick a goal.
Kingsley would hold on and win by 1 point.
Well it was time for the reserves game. Melville got a similar start to Kingsway in the colts. Kicking with the breeze they managed to get the ball rolling with some easy goals. Wanneroo couldn't capitalise either with the breeze. Playing a type of football that was a little to pretty for the conditions. Wanneroo went in a couple of goals down. Melville kicked away in the third again with the breeze. But Wanneroo just could not peg back the margin. Mr Mysterious would like to note there were a few passengers out there ( and a few Leon Davis'....don't know what that is? Ask me!) simply put Wanneroo weren't good enough for long enough.
Melville by 5 goals in the end.
The league game was quite tight and scrappy early on as Wanneroo couldn't quite make use of the wind they did manage to sneak a few goals in, with one goal resulting in an injury to the Wanneroo coach. They led by a few goals at quarter time. The second quarter was the same very scrappy and tight with both teams not making the most of chances. Wanneroo led at half time. It was in the third quarter though that Wanneroo lost a good opportunity. Not using the breeze effectively and wasting the football. Kelmscott were up at 3 quarter time and were coming home with a howling breeze. Wanneroo did manage to level the scores, but Kelmscott were just to good in the end. Wanneroo's league side also had a few passengers, which was not good. Congratulations to Kelmscott running out 15 point winners.
A few points I want to make here.
Not sure what game others were watching but Number 16 from Wanneroo easily BOG. Considering he is still eligible for colts football and is our club captain says a lot about him.
I don't mind a friendly banter or even silly throw away lines but I won't hear any bad word said about Wanneroo's coach. If only you knew how much effort the man puts in to the club.
Also to the clown pretending he is from Wanneroo complaining about the umpires. No one at Wanneroo would say that. It's a blight on your personality that you would stop that low.
Finally I cop some flack on here, but rain, hail or shine Mr Mysterious was here every week, I did what I did for fun and I enjoyed it, I hope you guys did aswell.
Thanks to all for a good season. Obviously it didn't end the way I would have liked, but hey that's life.
I'd like to say ill see you all next season but I think Mr Mysterious' days are numbered. Goodbye, farewell and Amen.
