Nollamara (4th) v Noranda (2nd) @ Des Penman Reserve
Noranda won this one 130-79 last time and would be looking for a repeat dose this week. It looks as if some inaccuracy in front of goal kept Belmont in the game last week and they know they can’t afford to do that at Des Penman. Nollamara are still in the hunt for a top 3 finish and the double chance but will need to win this week to keep it alive. They’ve won their last 2 games and will be chasing the hat-trick to set themselves up for finals.
Noranda to win.
Belmont (10th) v Carlisle (3rd) @ Forster Park
The local derby was a fizzer last time with Carlisle taking home the bragging rights with a 90 point win. With Belmont set to be relegated, they know this is their last chance for the local bragging rights for a fair while and will throw everyting including the kitchen sink at Carlisle. The Cougars suffered a loss on the weekend but are still well positioned for a top 3 finish. The won’t take it easy on their neighbours and this could be another blow out.
Carlisle to win.
Armadale (9th) v Ballajura (8th) @ Gwynne Park
1 position apart on the ladder but a large gulf between the teams. Barring a miracle, Armadale will be in C4 next year so for now can just focus on trying to knock teams off above them – they have a track record of doing it at Gwynne Park and will fancy themselves this week. Ballajura won last time by 5 goals and are coming off a loss to East Freo. A win this week will pretty much guarantee they stay out of the relegation zone and they know it.
Ballajura to win.
East Fremantle (6th) v Cockburn Lakes (5th) @ Winnacott Reserve
Game of the round. If Cockburn want to keep East Freo at bay and be in the 5 at the end of round 18, they have to win. The loss to Nolla has jeopardised their finals chances and know they can’t afford to let the teams below get a sniff. East Freo are on a 4 game hot streak that is tearing up the middle of the C3 comp. They have shown they can beat other finals contenders and will relish hosting the Warriors at Winnacott this week with their season on the line.
East Fremantle to win.
Ellenbrook (1st) v Dianella Morley (7th) @ Coolamon Oval
Dianella had a good win last week and now travel to Coolamon hoping to turn around the 48 point deficit from round 5. They have a tough run home and will need a couple of big wins if they want a crack at finals. The Eels made up for the loss at home when defeating Carlisle and now turn their attention to long time rivals the Raiders. After 3 weeks on the road it will be good to be back on Coolamon.
Ellenbrook to win.
