What an exciting week this promises to be in C1 football. After this weekend, the battle for relegation may heat up and we have teams battling it out to see who is going to get a home final. I heard on the grapevine that this season's PRELIM Finals won't be at neutral grounds rather the highest placed teams home ground. So that plays a very big part. Lets get stuck into this week like me with hot chips..face first and neck deep

Coolbinia West Perth v Melville
Last time they met
CWP 14.12 96 def Melville 11.14
CWP had somewhat of an upset in round 4. They do have the chance to press for finals but relegation does loom for them. Melville are on the charge in this back half of the season ( we were warned by the panda that this would happen) CWP have beaten Melville and Kingsway but lost to Kingsley last week. I think Melville will get the win here. But I wouldn't be surprised to see a CWP win.
Melville by 4 goals

Lynwood Ferndale v Thornlie
Last time they met
Lynwood 19.11 125 def Thornlie 9.4 58
This match has a lot riding on it for both teams. Lynwood are still fighting for a spot in the finals, but are another team who still is a chance to be relegated. It's no surprise that Thornlie haven't had the best season but I wouldn't go writing them off just yet. They are too proud a club to be relegated. I think Lynwood may just get the win here.
Lynwood by 2 goals

Gosnells v Kingsley
Last time they met
Gosnells 17.10 112 def Kingsley 9.14 68
If Gosnells can win this weekend, then they are a very good chance of securing a home final. They had a big loss last weekend which meant that they are still a chance of missing finals. Kingsley are on the up, and are fighting out of relegation. However they still need to keeping winning for that to happen. Could be a good game. Might be a couple of biffs along the way.
Kingsley by 2 points.

Kingsway v Kelmscott MOTR
Last time they met
Kelmscott 10.17 77 def Kingsway 4.5 29
Match of the round at Kingsway this weekend. 2 v 3 and the opportunity for a home final is on the line. Not just week 1 but also a prelim final. Kingsway received a reality check last weekend at the hands of Melville. Kelmscott are struggling for numbers. Having forfeited reserves the previous week, they forfeited Colts last weekend. Yet they sit second on the ladder. Hopefully Kelmscott can field 3 full teams this weekend. But Kingsway will win them all.
Kingsway by 3 goals

Wanneroo v Ocean Ridge
Last time they met
Wanneroo 14.12 96 def Ocean Ridge 7.6 48
Wanneroo has taken all before them this season and still sit undefeated after 12 rounds. They are going so well Mr Mysterious' services have yet to called on in season 2013. Onion Ridge are starting to show their 2012 form now and what a good time of the season to start doing it. They are coming off 2 big wins and will no doubt be looking to inflict Wanneroo's first loss of the season. I don't think that will happen though.
Wanneroo by 5 goals

Should be a good day at The Showgrounds with 3 v 4 in the colts and 1 v 3 in reserves. I'm looking forward to 3 wins, hot chips and some beers.

Good luck to all this weekend. May your on field performance be just as good as your off field antics.

Melville on a roll and will win comfortably
Thornlie playing the kids will get up
Gosnells at home
Wanneroo to belt ridge

Kingsway vs Kelmscott should be a ripper but i think Kelmscott may be too strong especially after Kingsway's poor effort last week although they do play their home deck very well. Kelmscott's colts forfeited last week as 13 of there regular players played reserves so there has obviously been a mass exodus of players at reserves level forcing the colts to go up.

Kingsway colts had the bye last week (Melville game) and would be hoping like hell that Kelmscott colts can field a team so they dont have 2 forfeits in a row but if Kelmscott are forfeiting at home i dont hold out much chance of them travelling all the way to Kingsway to play?

Good write up Mr Mysterious.

Melville by 50+
Lynwood by 26
Kingsley to knock of Gosnells in a close one.
Kelmscott to beat Kingsway again. Kingsway usually drop off at this point, and their flogging last week was just the beginning of this slide.
Wanneroo to continue their winning ways against rivals OR under the lights at the show grounds. Expecting a big crowd Saturday night given the rivalry between the teams and that it is a night game and the supporters from both clubs are a short trip away.

Look forward to having that beer with you Mr Mysterious. I take it you are not participating in Dry July?

Thanks Soprano. You are easily in the top 5 of my favourite TV characters of all time. You definitely are invited to my end of season party, so far it's me, you and the Panda. I won't be doing dry July. So anyone is welcome to come join me in a beer or 3 Saturday night.

Thanks Mysterious. Appreciate the invitation. I will definately be there.

Saturday beers sound great.

Also, any early predictions on the association medal? Who is the best prospect from each team? Have seen quite a few standout players over the rounds that look like they could win it, but obviously I only see Wanneroo games each week so cant get a gauge on consistency.

The Hawk is back!!

Interesting that the prelim finals are to be at home grounds this year, good to see the clubs that have deserve the right to host the final being rewarded. Hopefully whoever is hosting this it this year stocks up on hot chips and puts a couple of decent tarts behind the bar.

Mr M, Melville has a gent who may rival you hot chip eating abilities! I suggest that if the two clubs meet again we hold a hot chip eating comp at half time?

Now to this weeks tips:

Rams by 5+ - Things seem to be starting to gel and they will be looking to string a few games together and cement a spot in the finals and make a run at 3rd. Ressies to also go the rams way

Thornlie - Playing kids means that your form can be up and down but I am tipping they will get over Lynwood in both grades in a must win for both clubs.

Kingsley - looking like things are picking up at Kingsley and I think they will get the job done in the ones but gossies to pick up the points in the twos.

Wanneroo - Roos will get the job done under light but im tipping the margin will be under 3 goals. Ressies should be a cracker with the roos getting up by a slim margin which could hand top spot to Melville if the get up and set up a 2 game break for the top 2.

Kelmscott in league, Kingsway in 2s if there is a game. A win to kingsway pretty much locks up the reserves final 5 while if kemscott can get up they keep their hopes alive.

Good luck on the weekend hopefully the first test last until Saturday night.

Soprano, theme for the party will be old school sporting heroes. I'm coming as Tiny Pinder, then changing into Randy Savage feel free to come up with your own ideas

In regards to the FnB i'd say the winner would come from a top 5 team however I wouldn't know. There is probably 2 or 3 guys from Wanneroo who I'd say could win, and I'm sure each team has 1 or 2 players they know would be a chance. What are other people's thoughts?

Also welcome back Cyber Hawk, your presence has been missed. Interesting to see if you really do know who Mr Mysterious is. However the chip eating contest definitely wouldn't be at Melville as I refuse to eat crinkle cut hot chips.

Another ripping write up M&M.
Surely you would be getting paid for such intellectual brilliance?

Melville by 35. Melville reserves by 135.
Lynwood by 14. Thornlie reserves by 18.
Gosnells by 23. Gosnells reserves by 42.
Kelmscott by 48. Kingsway reserves by default.
Wanneroo by 54. Roos reserves by 34.

Mr. M, if I am one of the lucky souls that gets an invite to your party then I already have my costume sorted.
