The surprising result over the weekend was Brentwood going down to Jandakot by a point. Unfortunately I wasn’t there for the League match so I can’t say how it went down. I’m sure DB will be very keen to fill us in.

The reserves game was a tough battle. Jandakot got the jump and got a few goals up in the first quarter and kept the gap until the last quarter where Brentwood came out firing. Jandakot did miss a few, although they never had an easy shot, with the Brentwood defence giving constant pressure. Brentwood kept pushing and found the passage of play to their CHF, about 40m out on a slight angle, with a minute or so to go to hit the lead for the first time of the match, and held out to win it.

This means Brentwood are back in the pack, with % only differing the top 3.

Next week some good match ups, and harder tips with (as the ladder stands at the moment);
1st Swan View vs. 3rd Southern River
2nd Brentwood vs. 4th Secret Harbour
&
9th Wembley vs. 10th Cockburn

The 40m out was a free kick down the ground after our player had marked that kick. Happened to be the last kick of the day.

Was enough time for a bounce where a Jets player roved the contest and was making a mad dash towards goals when the siren went (before the kick).

Was an enjoyable game. And close all day.

League game was just a great game all day. Jandakot dominated the final quarter and just couldn't capitalise on the score board. 3.6 in the last quarter.

We kicked a goal to go 1 point up and the last 2.5 minutes was nail biting stuff. Fortunately a couple of marks ensured the boys were able to keep possession and win the game.

Brentwood were between 2-3 goals up all day - but the game was like a seesaw; nothing between the sides really in game play.

Happy to get the win, but alot of work to do after our slow start to the season.

All sides are so close - anything could happen in the second half of the season.

Yea, there were a few frees down the ground paid that game. Didn't know that was one, just saw the whistle go for our free, then was legging it over the other side of the pitch to build the wall. Some frantic final minutes of that game.

I recently moved to atwell area and i went down and checked out the local footy,

Just from a non-bias point of view both teams played with plenty of heart but i think they both need to go back to the basics and practice hitting targets because the skills were horrible at the weekend. i know wat u will say, because of good defense and the pressure from the other team caused bad skills but that wasn't the case, both teams seemed to put themselves under pressure through bad skills. So i think if all the sides are close in the league then the team that has superior skills and hit their targets will win.

Slackjawed, your insights are phenominal, you were watching a C4 game on the week end and you thought skills should lift. Not only did you pass on that sublime piece of advise, but you also went out on a limb to advise the team with superior skills who hit their targets will win the game! I wish i knew this at the start of the year, maybe we could have asked the coach to do some training so we could lift our skills.

if only every one could be as wise as yourself, this world would be a better place....

Judging by ur name bulldog I take it ur a Brentwood person so I'm going tell u this nicely as I possibly can, kicking is a simple skill that most teams overlook it in favour of learning kick in tactics or something useless as that, especially if u can't hit a target. So wat I'm saying is if teams focus on the basics and develop kicking skills of their players so they don't constantly turn it over, that team will win the gf and move up the leagues, maybe if Brentwood did that they wouldn't have fallen so far down c grade especially seeing as we used to hand ur asses to u everytime when I used to play and that was when u were in the highest grade u got too, but let's be arrogant and dwell in the cellar for a while k bulldog cos that's wat smartassses do k good luck

thanks for your handy advice, i will take that on board and pass on to the coaching staff.

I hope we do some kicking at training this week, as I agree with you, hitting targets will help.

Hopefully see you up the grades soon oh wise one

Slack jawed

Teach us your ways :)

Should of stayed around for the party at the swamp that night (your local now)
And mabey gave us all a few pointers on what we need to improve on over a few coldies ;).
Will def mention your pointers to the coaching staff :)
Was a good game played in good spirits and great to have a couple of
Beers with the Brentwood guys which we will definitely do on the return trip.

Was also a really successful Family day the swamp and great to have the
Auskickers playing before the main game.

Look forward to next week up at Osbourne Park

HAHAHA - Swampland. Love it.

Will be hard replacing the Aussie-Made Blundstone Gum boots and Croc fillets of the Swamplands with the ASICs Gel and SCones & Cream of the Northern Suburbs; but we'll try...
