Okay, the WAAFL have now updated the ladder, let the tipping begin!
What a big week it has been in footy……. 2 teams still yet to win a game while for the second time in C3 this year a game has been called off. Quite a few tipped 5, 3 away sides picked up the win and poor old KGB kid only got the 1.
3 rounds to go to the half way mark of the season and the top sides keep swapping spots – it certainly will be an interesting month.

Cockburn Lakes (5th) v Armadale (9th) @ Anning Park
Cockburn had their score doubled by the Noranda Express and now head back home with an idea of where they need to be at. Not what they would have wanted from the game but now they have a chance to bounce back in a big way. The Demons aren’t getting the results they need to stay up in C3 and now lag 8 points behind 8th placed East Freo – they are running out of chances with 1/3 of the season now gone. At this rate they might already be thinking about the round 9 clash with Belmont but will need to focus on trying to shut the Warriors down.
Cockburn with ease.
Carlisle (1st) v Noranda (2nd) @ Carlisle Reserve
This top of the table clash is easily Match of the Round. Carlisle should be fairly fresh after only playing a half of footy last week and will want to make a statement against the premiership favourites. They play a hard running game and this should be a great contest. The Agostino led, Spaanderman powered Hawks midfield blew Cockburn out of the water last week. They will only get stronger as the big fella bonds with his new teammates and will look to flex a bit of muscle here. He may be a bit too much for the Cougar backs when he’s playing up forward and will be the difference.
Noranda to win.
Dianella Morley (3rd) v Nollamara (6th) @ Dianella Open Space
I wouldn’t be surprised if a WAAFL rep was down watching this game with both sides being involved in called off games this year and it being a bit of a local derby. Dianella rebounded from their upset loss to get a big win against the Bombers and will look to keep their spot in the 5 secure and keeping the Cougars out. Nollamara cost themselves a chance of victory last week and will need to focus on a disciplined game this week to get their season back on track. Hopefully the old wise heads like Ali will get them focused on the footy.
Raiders to win.
Ballajura (7th) v Belmont (10th) @ Kingfisher Oval
Ballajura will welcome the return to their small oval after running around Coolamon on the weekend. They will know that they now need to string a couple of wins together and that this week gives them the perfect start. Belmont are struggling and will need to be more competitive to have any chance of staying up. They won’t get an easy ride here.
Ballajura to win.
East Fremantle (8th) v Ellenbrook (4th) @ Winnacott Reserve
Easts had a good away win on the weekend founded on straight kicking for goal. They only had 1 more scoring shot than Armadale but ran out 36 point victors. They always play better at home and now will have a bit of confidence with 2 wins under their belt. Ellenbrook had a good win against Ballajura and will look to continue the recent good form this week. Always a good game down there.
Ellenbrook to win.
