I hope you can enlighten us all as to what noun or adjective you might place on my mass of letters forming words

Take us back to the 70's by all means .................... don't take too long though, I am giddy with anticipation.

I would call it a question most school kids would laugh at. Suggest you look up the difference between profit and debt, also might want to check how many businesses in Australia post big profits with large amounts of debt. Mining industry would a great place to start.

Oh goody Mr holier than thou
Wonderful summation of argument to initiate the financial sector as a reference to stand behind
Because they have all done such wonderful jobs looking after the minor sections of their business in the world of Profit over/V’s Debt

These lesser sectors being the actual employees and in some cases stockholders (god help us from publicly listed companies)
Whenever the $ loss hits the fan all I have seen is pain visited upon the lesser individuals, as I have mentioned above, and this will be the outcome for the non AFL players and then passionate supporters to these 2 clubs in particular, some it being shown to us now.

Now - let’s look at the mining sector the bastion of moralizing virtues and trustworthiness to subordinates
1 x e.g. Fortescue, that is ludicrously overburdened with debt and now refinanced 'once again' with horrendous interest rates of debt payment to eventually make –
Over 600 jobs slashed in the last 3 months and that's not due to camps and sites moving from Construction to Production, these regions were already in production with the reduced manpower in place; another 100 JOBS ONLY WEEKS AGO - these in transport/trucking for Fortescue.

One other mining company, RIO, slashing 700 jobs with more to come, their debts do not match others but non-the less in their case the preserving of profits paramount in their rational. From the boardroom and those that travel least from Leather seat to Pilbara dust these decisions made with corporate validation...
more than several others running on debt rather than profit have collapsed causing more mayhem to employees/supporters
Let’s not even touch on the brink of financial ruin the American Housing market propped up by the banks and financial institutions almost bought to the entire world - living in false economies, manifesting DEPT as a GOOD thing, twisted and ripped to substantiate greed

And so while on this SOAP BOX I point to where this conversation began - maybe I should be accused of being a foolish idealistic - but better for my soul and my values that I am that , than a person who argues the merit of false Profit over actual existing/factual debt...

Steady on cowboy.

Us poor low level WAFL fans want to discuss footy and not read the Financial Review. I had to check the dictionary for some of the big words you used (any over six letters).

But you have a point!

Just remind me again Growler, how are James Hird and the Essendon Football club responsible for these foolish ideals???? I know it's lying deep inside the world's entirely flawed system of capitalism you have so eloquently described here somewhere. Might as well blame James too :silly:  :woohoo:

Freo for full takeover of Mandurah - Mandurah Dockers.

WC to form new team in Joondalup - Joondalup Eagles

WP to return to Leederville when new team set up in Joondalup.

Subi to return to Subi when new stadium built.

10 team Rio Tino Comp

8 team WAFL Comp.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

I have no idea what you are trying to say .....
Beside the fact that James Hird is a self applauding drivel of a coach who dropped the ball entirely in his duty of care for his players ...... I'm afraid I'm left with too many possibilities as to how you are referencing him here - I certainly didn't

TFaF if you are advocating a competition where a reserves' team of the Eagles and a reserves' team of the Dockers would play the 8 WAFL clubs where the result is irrelevant, why would WAFL clubs participate in these non-games? That would be even less acceptable to have players such as C Blakely play against in a nothing game compared to what we currently have.

No Swan.

I am suggesting that the traditional 8 be left alone and play in the WAFL. They would play each other twice for a 14 season home and away. Top four and Real premiership.

They would also play the Mandurah Dockers and the Joondalup Eagles twice each in a totally different competition.

This would see each traditional 8 play an 18 game season in two different competitions.

The WAFL would be completely legit. By this I mean they would be playing at their allocated time of 215 pm on a Saturday and not playing against Afl affiliates that on some weeks present very strong teams and others present weak teams.

The other comp (BHP cup or whatever) would afford the traditional 8 teams big money and no loss of integrity.

I could handle Tendai play against Perth in a Freo jumper in a different comp.

I couldn't handle Tendai play against Perth in a Peel jumper in the WAFL.

Cheers

TFaF thanks for the clarification. I may not agree with you, but at least I can understand the sentiment behind it.

By the way in a purely hypothetical, at the moment, scenario what would you and your Perth mates do if the Eagles dumped the shell of a club East Perth and attempted to get in bed with Perth?

Just introducing Essendon & James to the mix so we could sprout on about some of the real woes of the world which never seem to get coverage in the papers which you so accurately described whilst considering a saga about a few footballers who may or may not have taken some extra strong cough medicines which have dominated print for 2+ bloody years. Really enjoyed you analogy of the mining industry mate and the reality of the buggery that lurks behind misleading profit figures mate so thought I might dangle a cryptic carrot to continue the conversation. If only the scruples of the mining and banking industries were put under the same media microscope as what James & the EFC have been we might actually start to make some real progress within these false economies our entire debt laden economic system has created. I guess the word 'disgrace' can be easily attached to all.
