I would think this would come into calculation about using Perth:

The ABC understands world number one Rafael Nadal and other players did not train there because it was unsuitable as preparation to play at Perth Arena, where the ATP Cup is being staged.

The state facility next to Perth Stadium is sinking and in desperate need of redevelopment, but the State Government, Tennis West and Tennis Australia (TA) continue to dither on what to do with it, while other Australian cities invest in their tennis facilities.

That was only built to be practice courts for the Hopman Cup. They probably play state tournaments there and some satellite events. That practice court next to the new Arena is an after thought. They need to pour some money into the current tennis centre or what about alongside the WACA? Better location and maybe the WACA can benefit from it if they are going to reduce the capacity maybe they give up some land?

The State tennis centre has been subject to severe subsidence for many years, nothing to do with the new stadium. The centre was built well before the current foundation and footing engineering technology and practices that were used for the stadium. The tennis centre is a knockdown and start again but the cost of building in the same spot with the appropriate foundations would be substantial and unlike the stadium it's a single sport venue. Either expand the courts next to the Arena if there's space or locate it near a current sporting complex like Mt Claremont or the like.

What the State Tennis Center of Royal Kings Park ? Kings park has been around for 100 odd years, they played Davis Cop Federation Cup and WA open there, but its all lawn. Prior to the State Tennis Center opening in 94 it was the premier Tennis Venue,

I wassnt blaming the stadium for the subsidence, thats the old tip for that, I meant the area is to congested now and confined and busy for them to really stay and expand.

Yeah Mt Claremont would be OK, but its a bit of a distance from Arena, why not re surface some courts at Kings Park.
