This willl be a polarising subject but for me I have nothing but praise for Hortins stand to not acknowledge a drug cheat who is again under investigation.

I am not sure abt his failure to acknowledge the Chinese anthem but it could be said that he is protesting against a country renowned for it drug cheating.

Personally I would shake his hand any day of the week!

Totally support his action . If the Chinese guy loses his appeal I assume he would be stripped of his gold medal and it would be awarded to Hortin?

....And apparently Horton would not pose for photographs with Yang either, after the event. It's said he posed with the Italian bronze medallist only. Really is a shame this story overshadowed the tremendous effort of Australian Ariarne Titmus in the women's 400m final. Apparently Titmus flying home in the last 70 metres or so to beat the American girl, whom apparently had not been beaten previously. Ended up beating the American girl by over a second apparently. Good to hear the Aussies performing well.

WestAussieGuy it is a complete shame and Titmus should be lauded on high for her effort and achievement but Hortin is controversial and in the media world we live in that trumps a good news story every time

Personally I think the only to wake up FINA was for him to boycott the final.
If he didn't win the final & the Chinese swimmer was NOT under the influence of enhancing substances he becomes a loser.
We whinged for years about the East Germans & got nowhere..Now the Chinese. Next will be an unexpected Australian.

Did I hear something on the news today that a British swimmer has now done the same?
Apparently Scott (the British swimmer) who finished joint third, refused to shake hands with Yang on the podium.
During the 200-metre medal presentation, Scott congratulated silver medallist Katsuhiro Matsumoto of Japan and Russian Martin Malyutin, who finished in the same time as the Briton, but completely ignored Yang.
Apparently the Chinese swimmer reacted angrily. Scott also refused to take part in a group photo on the podium and kept his distance from the Chinese swimmer as they left the stage.

grump -- your right, there is a pro-Chinese lot on here, disturbing actually; dare I say it, our political establishment grovels even more in the halls of power.

And do you condemn this latest drug cheat or say it was a bad supplement.. A great bite on the arse for Aussie swimmers..

Seems like she's in a bit of trouble with both her A & B samples coming back positive, so not a lot to stand on. She is using the same defence almost all drug cheats use, ie someone tampered with her food/drinks/sample. Once the tribunal findings are done I will expect Mack to come down just as hard on his team mate as he has on that cheating Chinese scumbag.
