Ok Leigh, what about when Howe dragged the ball under himself right in the Eagle’s square about 4metres out and it was called play on. Not worth a mention? Or are your comments not meant to be constructive?

Every Collingwood supporter would say it should have been a kick to them for blocking, holding and every eagle supporter thinks their was nothing in it. Unfortunately in our game you have to take the good with the bad as it doesn’t get changed. Everyone has their thoughts but at the end of it all the Eagles are the premiers for 2018.
I don’t support either team and I thought it was the best umpiring of the year.

Agreed. There were times when the whistled could have been blown, but it went both ways. Anyway, the Woods came well out on top in frees for. You’ve got to wonder why every game isn’t umpired the way it was in the GF.

Pretty sure Wayne Carey called it as a free kick as well, can’t say for sure myself , but it didn’t look right somehow , if he was being held off the contest or if he was holding the eagle his back was to the ball, the umps had put the whistle away old school way , all over now who gives a shit.

Lethal Leigh is probably still dirty he never won a Brownlow. As great as he was as a footballer he was a dirty prick. Cable never had to revert to such tactics hence he won 3 Sandovers and countless Simpson medals and if he had of gone to Melbourne in his mid 20's probably would have won a Brownlow or two.

Not sure how it is a block when Rioli is closer to the goal and the Pie closer to Sheed?. It was a 2 on 1 so instead of asking for a free kick ask who should of been marking Sheed?

Mathew Lloyd summed it up beautifully on the Sunday footy show. He highlighted Jordan DeGoey not going with McGovern and making it at least a 50/50 contest. Instead he sagged off the back praying it would somehow come his way. Lloyd also pointed out it was a brave kick by McGovern to find Vardy who kicked in the Ryan direction who took a beautiful mark and he played on and found Dom Sheed. Fortune favours the brave in grand finals and West Coast were brave in those last passages and they thoroughly deserve the chocolates. Anyone who suggests otherwise is a sore loser.

Just on the Vardy mark. Mayne was piss weak in that one on one, at a critical point was easily beaten in the contest.

it happens out of shot the cameras don't really catch rioli blocking maynard run to contest the mark v sheed, by the time the cameras pick it up , youre correct the players have swapped position and end up in a wrestle, commentators there picked it up straight away , I think Carey got it right, it was in plain open view of the umps as well, it looks like Sheed actually plays on after the mark as well a split second more - lucks a fortune I guess.

That sort of blocking and contested positioning of bodies happens 100 times a game and goes unpenalized...because it's the last 2 minutes of a GF shouldn't make any difference...both in it...play on for mine.
