Yeah Herb Elliot is a good one...

Maybe Charlesworth / Walker as well, just make sure we don't over cook the footy players

another I would like to see is Margaret Court for shore, and not just to include a female but because she was a super star player.

Good topic Baz....and maybe throw in Jamie Dwyer as well...he was considered the best hockey player in the world between about 2004 to 2011 or thereabouts.

Not a chance in hell you'll get Margaret Court, I don't think it will be long before Margaret Court arena will be renamed as well.

That would be a national disgrace.

this is about her sporting achievements, nothing else.

Herb Elliot - for obvious reasons
DK Lillee - in my opinion the best cricketer to out of WA
Rick Charlesworth of Dwyer but leaning towards Charlesworth given his coaching record
Dixie Willis - World record holder in the 60's over ( I think) 220, 440 and 880
Polly Farmer - Not cos he is EP but I think he is the best player we have produced and his influence on the game lasts now
David Dickson - swimmer from the 60's
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so stupid people won't be offended

Bill Walker has to be one of the statues for football- 4 x Sandover Medallist
Other football certainties should be- Farmer, Cable, Todd
Dennis Lillee- Cricket possibly R.Marsh, McKenzie

Should the honour only be reserved for sports that will play regularly at the Perth Stadium?
Luc Longley- Basketball (Bendat Basketball Arena)
Herb Elliott & Shirley Strickland- Athletics (At the WA Athletic Centre)
Also Jamie Dwyer is a Queenslander...not sure Hockey should be acknowledged at the Perth Stadium they have their own state centre at Curtin to put up any Hockey statues.

Surely Ric Charlesworth would be one of the first picked for his playing careers in hockey and cricket and his international hockey coaching in mens and womens. Ric was the playing equivalent of Jamie Dwyer in his day (without the Olympic Gold medal) and JD is not from WA.

Why shouldn't our greatest sports stars be recognised at the Perth Stadium?
I'm not knocking Bill Walker who was an out and out champ but domination of the local comp might not be enough - there would be other sports people (ie not football players) would have 4 won their WA comp's F&B 4 times. IMO a world championship or world record rates a bit higher.
