Yeah, under current laws the firearms most are acquired legally in the US and then end up in Mexico, my comment was on the premise that the laws changed in the US became harder to get ( will never happen ) and the flow stopped, and you would get a reverse effect of gangs moving them into the US with Coke and everything else they bring in, there must be an endless supply Central and South America especially ex military weapons.

you can see the difference in the ethos of the UK and US in the police: in the first 'it is keep the peace', in the second it is 'enforce the law' . They are very differnet mind sets, and as people have stressed, it all goes back to the silly rebellion of 1776.

Sadly, this will be yesterdays news shortly and soon be forgotten about. These types of events have sadly become the norm.

Sadly another mass shooting took place over there. Heard on the news this morning that 24 or 25 people were gunned down and killed with dozens injured.. Can you believe, inside a church this happens The pastors young daughter being one of the victims. It's only been 4 or 5 weeks ago the last one happened!
All the politicians will all say they are thinking and praying for the victims etc etc etc. But not one word will be mentioned of introducing weapons or gun legislation or attempt to make a safer society!

Sadly any attempt to enforce gun control in the US is a hopeless cause as there are already so many guns in circulation it would have no effect at all. Maybe one way to curtail gun related crime without being hamstrung by their rediculous constitution is to strictly control ammunition. Ammo gets used and needs to be replaced on a regular basis. Guns without ammo are just a piece of metal. The constitution refers to the right to bear arms, doesn't mention ammunition.

The problem is in Congress where members are bribbed by the NRA. There should be many Congress men and NRA people in gaol. These weapons were banned when Reagan was shot, re-appearring because junior boy Bush let the act lapse.

It would take the police and National Guard in each state to make any impact on the problem should Congress ever act.

I'm not sure if you guys are giving Sir Donald the respect he deserves.

30 years ago America had the same gun laws as they do now, and we didn't have issues of random shootings in society, hell I know guys that went to University in the southern states of the USA and they all had shotguns in their gun racks in the cars they drove to school. The biggest difference then was if you disagreed with someone you didn't go and get high on drugs and shoot them, you went behind the sheds with them and sorted it out fist to fist.

Nowadays if people disagree with what someone has said to them or worse, someone looked at them in a way they didn't like they go and jack themselves up on drugs, blame mental health issues for being unstable and go and shoot the shit out of people.

This isn't the gun doing this action, this is the idiot that can get his hands on the gun that is doing the trouble, get rid of the guns and like Europe is finding out people will use cars etc. for weapons.

So for Mr Trump to say its not a gun issue but more a mental health/society issue is probably closer to the mark than you all believe

Trust me I own a gun and that gun will never kill anyone, unless I get stoned on drugs, blame mental health issues because society becomes to hard and then use the gun in a bad way.....that's not the guns fault

I disagree PH....I accept mental health issues in most cases is the cause but firearms are the vehicle. Could that lunatic in Las Vegas kill 58 people with a knife or the loser in Texas reaped so much carnage without a gun? I don't think so. How can someone who was dishonourably discharged from the military for assaulting his wife and child, spend a year in custody purchase a semi automatic weapon? It's just crazy stuff.

You're right with this anchor, but you should add "because we won't help ourselves". The old saying is God helps those that help themselves, but pity helps those that won't.
Can you imagine what would happen in Australia if this went on every month? The ruling government of the day would come down with sledge hammers and anything like the NRA would have no say.
