Grassy, I was told much the same about the Hopman Cup -- basically players tried for set and then relaxed a bit if they lost it in favour of the other player.

No problems provided it applied to the Australian cricket team as well. Two points:

(i) the cricket team may not have enough tp provide a quorum; and
(ii) appealing when it is patently not out would be considered extremely bad sportsmanship (akin to slamming one's racquet into an inanimate object)

This ends any direct WC qualifying, so go into the sudden death play offs..

First up Syria, well we should win that, Syria have the odds stacked against them , but are playing on spirit, then even if we win that its V a an American team Honduras , or maybe USA, cant see them getting there tbh.

Personally I think we have too many sports competing for $$ and public interest. We got away with it for so long being a prosperous country, but with the rest of the world catching up we certainly don't stand out anymore.

The most obvious example is the fact we have a serious interest in 4 codes of football - does any other country do that?

If we put the same money into soccer that the AFL goes through we would be a top 10 nation.

Which would be a massive fail. How many millions have been invested in World Cup qualifying? I think they overrate themselves.
