Bazza wrote: The original main score board on the Roberts Rd Wing, was great, it was fully traditional with Race Results, I'm pretty sure the structure was mainly concrete, there was a kiosk underneath the terrace steps, for a long time it was sponsored by METTERS Stoves then Samboy Chips.

There was also a ground level scoreboard on the members sign, basic black and white job, score only.

Yep the Ping Pong Ball Lights Score Board all the rage late 80s.

Another memory where the giant MARLBORO Signs around ground.

One of my earliest memories of listening to footy on the radio was hearing Frank Sparrow say "on the Metters scoreboard" In my wide eyed youth I was imagining a scoreboard shaped like a stove that you could warm your pie in........
Did anyone attend the first state of origin game in October 1977 organised by Leon Larkins where Barry Cable and Co ran amok?

Like BC i was at the Creedence Clearwater Revival concert in 1972. Led Zeppelin also played either the week before or the week after.

1970 was my first grand final as a young fella. Disappointing result, same in 1974.
1976 and 1977 different feeling altogether.
I won't even think about 1978.

Also saw some great state games against the Vics and SA. I remember one game in about 77 when we were well beaten by the Vics and Peter Hudson kicked 10 goals. He was a master full forward.

If you're referring to the Neil Diamond concert in December 1975, that was at the WACA. He may have played at Subi another time, I'm not sure.

My top five memories...
1. 1975 GF WP v SF... first GF only a whipper snapper
2. 1989 GF C v SF
3. 1992 GF SF v EF
4. 1997 GF EF V SF
5. 2005 and 2009 GF"s

Sorry but all SF memories , I am little biased. The first three still give me nightmares. But the others do give me plenty to smile about. Here's hoping for another one before we move to another venue.

Yep even though 89 and 92 went badly they both had good crowds so memory is strong.

1975 crowd massive.
