Voges has announced his retirement today from State cricket although he has committed to play with Middlesex this year and there is a chance he could suit up for the Scorchers again next season.

Its been a distinguished career which was finally capped off in his 30's with test selection and he did well too as a batting average of 61 would indicate.

This season has been a poor one for him and the blow he took on the head at the WACA prior to Christmas certainly didn't help.

Hopefully the Warriors can pay tribute to him this weekend with a crushing victory over the blue baggers and if the results of the other games go the right way, you just never know, Adam's career may be extended by one more game against the Victorians!

Also well done to Chris Hartley from Queensland and Xavier Doherty from Tasmania who also announced their retirements today.

Well said Mike.
To average 61 in Test Cricket & over 40 in both ODI's & First Class Cricket with the bat is an achievement most can only dream of but Adam Voges has.
The timing is probably right especially with a disappointing season in the Sheffield Shield both personally and as a team but well done on a fine career ACV.

Congrats on a great career, always enjoyed watching him bat except when bowling to him in grade cricket :P More importantly he is a genuine nice bloke. Deserves all accolades!

It was just like another Mike Hussey slotting into the middle order anywhere - runs just kept coming

A pity that his opportunity at Test level came so late but better late than never.
A Test average of 61 is the envy of many a Test batsman. A few get to 50 but Adam is in rarified air with his average.
Well done Adam on a fine career both for the Warriors, the Scorchers aa well as Australia.

Terrific career and let's hope that he can make a ton and play his last game in a Shield Final. Well done Adam.

Victoria and Tasmania are our friends this week and so far they are both in pretty good positions having bowled out their opposition for just over 200.
Warriors need quick runs in the morning because they've still got to get 20 wickets on what looks a pretty good pitch.

With current skipper Adam Voges now retiring and a fair chance Maxy Klinger may follow suit who would be in line to be the next WA Captain I wonder?
A bit out of left field but I reckon Ashton Turner might be worth a punt...others in line could be Cartwright, Whiteman, Bancroft, Agar, S.Marsh....
I also heard Marcus Stoinis may be looking to head back home to WA for next season?
