I don't need to argue anything...the facts are very clear that you and your ilk resort to blatant labelling and name calling when someone has an opinion other than your own. your previous post is all the proof I need.

BC Dick Smith has aligned himself with One Nation. The One Nation party that in the 1990s said we were being overrun by Asians. The One Nation party that says in the 2010s we are being overrun by Muslims. Both are demonstrably untrue. I am not going to stand by and allow the dissemination of racist comments that are aimed at vilifying a minority in Australia. As for John Howard's later day epiphany and getting into bed with One Nation is an absolute disgrace and just adds the opprobrium his Prime Ministership will be held in years to come.

I disagree with Dick Smith, it's not immigration that is the cause of rising house unaffordabilty, rather foreign investment. Yet we are not afforded the same rights in those countries that are snapping up our real estate and jacking up prices. Our politicians are a disgrace and nothing more than political whores that sell the countries soul.

I think you're wrong DD...foreign investment has to get past the FIRB first and in fact there have been forced sales in recent times where offshore buyers have purchased homes illegally using resident proxies here in Oz...I don't think that's the main problem. In saying that, I personally think it's a combination of many things and don't necessarily agree with Smith that immigration is the main cause but I do defend his right to express an opinion without being labelled a xenophobe by the likes of $wan42$29m. Foreign investment, immigrants, lack of supply are all causes imo.

Well like it or not immigration is a fact of life, we can debate about the numbers and where they are coming from but on the whole I think most immigrants are coming from a base of poverty and take years before they can afford a deposit to buy a home. You could argue they bump up rental prices due to the extra demand.

This government doesn't show any initiative to push up interest rates to slow down price surges in the housing market.

BC my comment was it was and I quote: "xenophobic nonsense". If you wish, to try to suit your point of view. to construe that as a personal comment about Dick Smith, that is your choice. Of course it doesn't make it true per se.

Perhaps you might like to elaborate on your comment about the forced sales. For the record what was the lowest price of the houses sold under those circumstances?
