Considering East Freos dominance of the 85 season they very were lucky the GF didn't go another 2 mins as Subi (before they became $alary) were coming, and good to see Rioli the smoothest mover on the field in the Fosters cup clip, he must have had memories of playing EF in derbies during that game. Standard was great too..bring back the 80`s!!!
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

My first season of live WAFL footy after returning from country living after schools end in 1984. Was an 11yo kid loving watching the high flying treats of Brent Hutton and seeing my heroes for the first time play in the flesh. I'm still pissed with my folks for not bringing me down to the 82-84 GF's, missing the greatest period in my club's history whilst I've been on the earth although can't complain about being raised in Lancelin which was like a massive playground for children in my eyes. Reckon I kicked the footy from one end of town to the other 1000 times over. Also remember the absolute devastation being beaten by Subi in the prelim final that year, defeat wasn't something easily accepted as a kid. Bawled my eyes out at games end.

Brian Taylor won the Simpson medal that year in a losing side whilst Browning kicked 6 for the victors which you think would have got him the votes on the day. Interested to here anyone's recollections regarding the awarding of the Simpson in the 85 GF. Taylor must have played some sort of game to get presented the medal as part of the losing side.

DW -- Had a quick look at the statistics for the game, figures which showed Brian Taylor having 19 possessions. In comparison, Dwayne Lamb, the great Peter Featherby and Peter Wilson, as well as others, all had more of the ball.
