I hate the idea of one extra team from WA joining the AFL but just think its getting pushed so much that's its a fait accompli.

Therefore I would rather see two teams joining from WA at the same time as a Tassie team.

Joondalup Falcons. Mandurah Sharks.

Saying all that I would much prefer 4 less teams in the AFL leaving 14 teams to play the other 13 teams twice - once at each others home ground for a 26 game home and a away season - but thats not going to happen.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Bazza who is going to support them? The supporter base would be lower than GWS's supporter base.

I agree that it will be difficult to get a supporter base. West Coat were the first WA team in the VFL, Freo did some clever marketing with the name and colours being red white and green which is the Italian flag and also port and starboard...not sure what cohort they could appeal to for a third team.

Complete and utter bullshit Anchor!
Have a very short memory do we?
Back in the early days Freo didnt have 2 bucks to rub together, George G had to organise funding for their current premises down at the Concrete Jungle, Demetriou on his annual routine visit to both clubs in WA absolutely shit canned the failure of a club under McClean & co, Fosters boss G.Wood brought forward $10 million in sponsorship dollars to pull them out of the financial mire back in 01/02, remember those days????? ...and there is still no flag to be seen down there! :)

Spot on BH, they were a basket case on and off the field. Yes freo are doing fine now but there was always going to be a supporter base for a freo team, the freo footy traditions go back a very long way and there were thousands of WC members who were freo people just waiting for a freo team to come along and they jumped ship. There is no other similar supporter base in waiting to do the same thing, certainly not in the far northern suburbs, it would be a complete disaster for the WAFL and a financial albatross for the AFL forever and a day.
