Mike, you said it all.

Seems as though the mob mentality is alive and working.

When someone would rather party on Packers yacht instead of celebrating a test win with his mates, really shows how this guy was so self absorbed with himself.
Now he's come out and had a crack at his former coach Buchanon, sounds like those two other self absorbed blokes Warne and McGill who did so as well and we all know that Clarke is best mates with Warney.
Bit rich for Symonds to come out and criticize him, but those other guys Ponting ,Hayden, Hussey, and Gilchrist who have said something are respected enough as they were there in the dressing room to be able to have their say.
No doubt he was a good batsmen doesn't mean he was a good bloke and he was obviously unsettling in the dressing room and rubbed Lehman up the wrong way.

In any workplace there are going to be people who get on better than others. I'm sure there have been tensions and clashes in Australian dressing rooms since the year dot. The difference is that most of these clashes in everyday workplaces are sorted out confidentially whereas these cricketers are public figures and any little spat is going to be blown up by media and of course it all helps with the book sales later.

I reckon unless you know Michael Clarke personally which I am guessing you don't, you are making your judgement on whether he is a good bloke or not by a couple of over blown media incidents. Yes I don't know him either but I reckon his cricket was pretty good, teams generally won when he was in them and thats all that matters. I don't really give a stuff about what sort of a bloke he is, he was still a good servant of Australian cricket.

Can I guess then Peter, that you didn't hear the Gilchrist interview about the issue on Saturday?

My stance on Clark was born the moment he hung Symonds out to dry in Darwin leading up to a 20/20 nothing match v Bangladesh from memory. FFS let a man go fishing in Darwin...

people have to realise that the baggy greenism and wider culture of drinking and so on is rubbish.

Bradman never smoked, drank, socialised or did anything with his team. Benaud hardly ever wore the bloody baggy green cap.

Baggy greenism is only a recent thing, created by Steve Waugh, whom for some reason was obsessed by the thing. Ironically, he met a little bit of resistance from his brother and mr. Warne.

DR Jardine batted in his university cap.

Methinks he was a great batsman as was Goodes a good footballer BUT both not liked as a person.

Yep good comparison that between Goodes and Clarke. Lets just base our views on what the rest of the mob think. Even though we have no idea about what the person is really like, we only know what we hear on the media. Rather do that than actually think it through a little which might hurt too much God forbid.

What did Gilchrist have to say or if you can is there a link available to an article or audio of the interview?
