Swan, Mate Billy Walker was a WANFL legend and thats it, yes he played some great state games but apart from that most people in SA would not have given two hoots about him , they had plenty of their own stars. I think you have SDFC centric stuff on your brain, if Walker had backed himself travelled to VFL then I guess he would be up there, just like Polly farmer, lets face it , if Polly had just stayed in WA , he would not been even close to legend his is today.

Its called Australian Hall of Fame because you have to be well known across Australia I guess rather than just one state.

Being a staunch Cat man, i would just have loved to have seen Stephen Michael play for us, we had him signed on the old "form four" for years and years. If he was half as good as i have heard i have no doubt he would have been up there with Cable and polly.

Yep exactly Michael was great, but once again barely known outside of WA, unlike Cable Farmer and Rioli.

Sure they watched the state games , but even with that it was a well known fact that in Vic club footy was always more impotant to the punters than state footy, unlike WA and SA who staked a lot on beating the vics.

So tell me was there a WAFL based version of the winners broadcast into Vic , I seem to recall a very popular national show that featured VFL footy shown all around Oz!

The title of the topic says it all guys, The "AFL" hall of fame.

Now lets remember the AFL took over the VFL, they didn't take over the WAFL or the SANFL. So it makes sense that a lot of the guys in the ADL hall of fame come from the old VFL.

Any decent football follower knows good players from all states. If we all got to add our favourites to the hall of fame then it would be one hell of a group. Only a select few each year get nominated and this is good for the game

Wa only centric people need to get used to the fact that fewer and fewer wafl only players will get gigs like this, with the decline of the comp demise of state footy, AFL will dominate.
