FFS why is Xavier Doherty anywhere near the World Cup squad?....perfect chance to give Boyce or Zampa some exposure to the squad......Doherty is a safe bet nothing more nothing less......the rest of the squad is pretty well as expected.....

though with Smith firing on the leadership does Clarke even deserve a World Cup gig?.....Burns showed in this test match innings when fast runs were needed he could deliver.....if they didn't pick Harris for pre Ashes potential injury concerns why pick Clarke?...

Warner, Finch, Smith and Bailey will be the bats who won't bowl, with Faulkner, Watson, Maxwell and Marsh the all rounders.....Haddin as wicketkeeper.....fast bowlers in Johnson, Starc, Hazlewood and Cummins.....where does Clarke even fit in?

For me team first up could be : Warner, Finch, Watson, Smith, Bailey, Marsh, Maxwell, Haddin, Johnson, Cummins and Hazlewood.....bat down to 10 with Maxwell, Smith and Finch as slow bowling options.....though Faulkner to me is a better option than Maxwell.....seems to be able to consistently bring a team home when chasing.

Totally agree in regards to Doherty freeze but the chosen squad was pretty predictable in hindsight.
The likes of S.Marsh, Burns, Behrendorff & Boyce could consider themselves a little unlucky to have known crocks like Clarke, M.Marsh & Cummins squeezed in ahead of them.

spot on Turtle. Can't believe that Cummins was picked ahead of Behrendorff??? Obviously current form means nothing.

probably more so due to the fact that if Behrendorf played, Australia bowling attack could of easily been Johnson, Starc, Behrendorf, Faulkner and Doherty!.....whatever folk say about Cummins, the kid is talented had a rough run with injury, delivered on the big stage in his only test against a quality side, thus has shown the temperament to succeed......

for me do we really need the express pace of Johnson?......Starc bowls 145 plus, Cummins 145 plus, Hazelwood 140 plus.....Behrendorf and his control/accuracy would of been a better bet than Johnno's hit and miss bowling......Johnson looked less threatening this summer against a side reputed to be more fragile against fast bowling than most teams....

Johnson looking less threatening this summer has more to do with the state of the pitches this summer. Scores of 400 and 500 plus for both sides indicates they were played on roads. Maybe the ACB wanted the games to go 5 days or worst case 4 days $$$$$$Kaching speaks volumes me thinks

One thing I am certain of, is that if Behrendorf played for NSW, I have no doubt at all in my mind that he would of been picked.
You can take that any way you like, but I really do believe that because WA is so far away, they just don't give these players the attention.
I have heard commentators here in WA in, not just cricket but football as well talk about it frequently. About how certain personalities, whether in media or otherwise say they haven't really seen much on on a particular person in another state etc.
An example was Tom Moody before Xmas on 6PR saying, I stand corrected, but I think he was referring to a WA bowler in either Coulter-nile or Bherendorf, but he was talking to some NSW reporters/media scribes and they were saying well we haven't really seen much of this person or been following them as such.
As Tom Moody stated, its your job to keep an eye on and report "Australian" talent everywhere. Something along those lines...

Actually, Behrendorf comes from Canberra, so I would be mildly surprised if NSW haven't (as yet) made a play to get him back over to the other side with promises of a Test spot.

I wouldn't mind betting that either the Sixers or Thunder try to lure him next season.

the media doesn't pick the squad...the selectors do and the chairman is one Rod Marsh so you'd think he'd be all over the likes of Behrendorf. Agree with comments on Clarke...why would they even take the risk?

BC, considering one day batting requires lots of quick singles, turning 1s into 2's and 2s into 3's how in fark is Clarke gonna be able to play in a world cup? The guy has meringue like hamstrings.....complete madness picking him and playing him when he offers nothing to the Aust one day set up.

Understand the frustration behind Behrendorf's non selection, but surely Marsh wouldn't allow this Baggy Green/Blue cap bullshit people are talking about? Actually I can remember the days when WA had 7 guys in the Aust test team......as you say BC the media don't select the side.....perhaps this NSW infatuation existed in Hilditch C.O.S days but surely Bacchus is a stronger individual and wouldn't tolerate any state getting precedence over another at the selection table?
