please Jimmy Cowan?......

geez thinking of that ex All Black donkey in Jimmy Cowan......yeah Mr ED is pretty apt ther mike....though pretty sure he was a horse and not a donkey like Messrs Ed Cowan is.....saying that back to back 100's means he will be a pretty good chance wearing the baggy green in Brisbane....especially if Rogers or Watto fail with the bat in the 2nd innings today!

BH, I like the look of Carters also mate, and being from NSW he is likely to get a chance sooner rather than later

Too true JB, amazing to think the guy looked pretty gormless v Pakistan, sounded gormless in those shield games he played in, yet here he has looked threatening from the go.......Rogers surely on thin ice especially with Carters big 100 and Mr Ed's twin tons...,,..Watto needs a score.....or does he?.........to keep his spot.....

Well done to Warner 2nd century in the game. Good to see some "friendly" banter ...well it's the thought that counts....between the two sides, no one enjoey the replay of the no ball than Warner.
On a side note, well done to Abbott 6/14 bowling for NSW, shows character.
Rogers & Watson should both be shown the door. In the race for spots S.Marsh, Ferguson, Cowan and Carters with Voges as a smokey. Being from NSW Carters probably has already packed his bag.
Siddle, even though he had the trotts, would be lucky to keep his spot.

So looking ahead to the Ashes in the winter - three more tests and maybe a couple in the West Indies if they decide to play, is it time for a major overhaul of the test side?

My questions that I think need asking before we play in England in 2015

1) Will Rogers play at his age, his form is waning?
2) Can Watson keep making solid 30's or will the selectors go for someone else?
3) Will Clark's back hold up after 24 hours in a plane?
4) Can Haddin still hold the gloves - he will be close to 38 by then and today is the first time in the past 8 innings he has got past 10.....
5) Will Harris knees stand up and allow him to play he is getting on in age
6) Can Siddle hold his spot - I think he hasn't looked dangerous at test level for about 18 months.

Some interesting times for the selectors trying to make sure we don't loose back the ashes while turning over some of these guys, or do people think they will all be around and in form next English summer??????

(1) Rogers will be shown the door.
(2) Watson plays for WATSON. His 2nd innings was too slow. Also doesn't bowl enough therefore is no longer an asset.
(3) Clarke needs time off for repairs.
(4) Haddin plays when he wants to. Not enough runs & too old.
(5) Harris is in trouble with too many sniffing behind him.
(6) Siddle eats TOO many bananas & lacks fire this season.
(7) We need to blood more like Marsh, loved his sixes.

Premiership Hangover -- good post. The short answer I think, at least for me, is that the only doubtful one is Rogers. They will take young bowlers to cover for Harris and Siddle, but the ploy may not work. On the batting front, they will hope for the best with Watson and the captain. Thus, the side is pretty threadbare, too reliant on good performances from the young NSW batsman and ageing bowlers. Over five tests, I think the weaknesses will probably be expossed in England.

I think our bowling will be fine plenty of options we are very strong in this department, the issues are openers spot, no 3 and wicket keeper. Nevill or Whiteman for Haddin, not to sure who can fill Roger spot and Shaun Marsh seems to be next in line for No3.

I'm quite confident of retaining the ashes no matter what squad we send over the poms are nowhere the team that beat us over their last time I think they may have even dropped to 5th in the world test rankings.
