This is how I understand it, and please correct me if I'm wrong:

If you are a WCE listed player you need to play five WAFL games to play for EP's league team in the finals.

If your league team is still alive (EP, Subi, EF) you can play anyone on the list in the Reserves without the five game minimum.


So ... does that mean that Nic Nat and Josh Kennedy and 20 other WCE could play in the Reserve's final for EP???

You still have to qualify by playing a certain ammount of ressies games for the year,just because you are on a league list doesnt mean you can drop back and play in a ressies final!

Im not sure you can drop down 2 grades either can you?

I don't think the Eagles would release their top players to play reserves........

it'll be very interesting to see who they actually do release. they may be of a view that having all the fringe players winning a flag at WAFL level will be good for team bonding and gives those guys a taste of success which is what they'd be trying to engender in the group or on the other hand, risking long term injury as well as showing the footy public just how destructive the alignment is to the local comp might very well sway them to hold the bulk of qualified players back...who knows?

Interesting question though.

Let's say Peel snuck into 4th spot for the reserves. Fremantle will still be in the AFL finals but the Peel league team is out. Does that mean all 17 Dockers can drop back to the reserves while Fremantle are still playing finals?

I, like many, would be surprised if they (WAFC?) planned for such a contingency involving the Reserves. In EP's case (both league and Reserves) it would give a chance for their WCE's to see some September action which they won't in the AFL for a long, long time...

EP could have up to 20 Eagles players available for the finals, esp their talls Lycett, Sinclair, McGovern, Schofield etc etc combined with Johnson and smith..has the potential to be like watching the Harlem Globe Trotters in action

The answer is that whatever the Eagles and/or Fremantle want is what the rules will be.
