He was quick to take the money and the glory of the ’57 G/F and might have made the difference in us converting those G/F losses in the early ’60s to wins.
Marketing tool or a request by a senior citizen, I don’t care.
I know heaps of sharks players over the years who actually supported other teams.
What’s going to happen? Are we going to get a flood of these type of requests blocking up the system?

I think it would be a nice gesture by East Fremantle. For heavens sake it's not going to change history. Ok he made one decision 60 years ago to make some extra money, god forbid. I'd imagine EF would be thankful he helped deliver them that premiership. And to think it will open some kind of floodgate is just wrong. It would be a great story & would show some humility & class for the WAFL.

If he went to his grave without his wish, it would show up the WAFL as a competition of crusty old negative fools. Seems people want to put a negative spin on everything these days. What's wrong with us ?

He doesn't need a clearance as he isn't on the East Fremantle playing list. South could just add him to their playing list. Bit of harmless nostalgia and publicity! Don't need to get your knickers in a knot over this!

find it strange the fella needs 'written approval' to be a South person again....christ all n sundry know the guy was a SFFC champion thru and thru....yeah he won a flag at EFFC......but it's pretty obvious he is a SF man.....

I must admit to being a bit confused about this in that I didn't know someone could be cleared from one club to another if they are not playing any more? Anyway if Steve is looking to make peace with his loyalties before he passes, surely something could have been done privately between the two clubs rather than making it into a media event?

To me he has always been a South Fremantle legend anyway.
