is james hird the Teflon Don ?

i had to chuckle watching the panel of experts analysing dean robinsons interview. it was as if hird was the innocent victim and robinson the lone villan. they almost jumped to hirds defence immediately.

the melb media just cannot get their heads around Hird being tainted.

this whole thing is bizzare watching from the outside. Not in the sense of the Essendon situation itself, but the melb media's failure to act like journalists. i get the impression hird will come out the other side smelling like lavender. if it were an interstate club , you can imagine the pressure from these exact same sections of the media.

getting tired of favourites in the afl family. call a spade a spade. it is quite sickening to watch.

Calling it an interview is fairly liberal Jardine, It was a witch hunt where nothing new came out.

It was really interesting when they were talking about that bloke Charters, Should there have been a disclaimer in there somewhere from luke Darcy as he was also trained by Charters, and interviewed by the police, or did Darcy forget to mention that.

Dont get me wrong, I by no means support james hird and Essendon have done and I think Hird has driven alot of what has happened at Essendon, but all we saw Wednesday was a sook with a vendetta against Hird and Essendon being interviewed by a pretend journalist who didnt give full disclosure about his own involvement along the way or ask the questions we all wanted asked....

i know what you mean there p-hangover, but i feel that fellow robinson has an axe to grind and probably for good reason. he obviously is being made a scapegoat somewhere & now he has had enough. any person cornered like that, while others keep their jobs would drive anyone to hit back hard. how the media cant realise that is another convenient asset for james hird. regardless of the interview itself, this foolish drug programme by essendon (and hird) was a way to fast track things unnaturally. those are undeniable facts , otherwise why do it.

darcy is a pretend journalist that is for sure. why CH7 would even consider him for this is quite ludicrous. would love to have seen gerard whately interview him.

i cannot see how hird can get out of this mess, but one thinks he just might given the love for him in melbourne

I thought the panel afterwards was pure comedy, you had Bruce the goose, Mark ( StandbyHird) McVeigh Richard Inggs who used to work for Asada I don't know why Mathews was even there the only person who could probably hold his head up was Mark Stevens he least he tried to ask a few questions which the bumbling fool McVeigh tried his hardest to debunk.

And now golden balls has hired a top QC so he can get an injunction to stop the Asada report coming out the general public, didn't Hirdy say he will be in a good place when the truth comes out.

Why if jimmy has done nothing wrong does he need to hire every qc in melb along with any spin doctor he can lay his hands on??

just spending a saturday morning listening to 94.5, i dont know why gee that barra worries me. yes of course he has opened the lines to people talking about hird. and of course they are all essendon supporters who say hird is a great guy. nobody is saying he isnt, but why not for god sake ask these people if they are happy knowing all this time that hird has been overseeing these obscene amounts of injections. better still, ask them outright if they are happy with them going so agonisingly close to the illegal line.

nobody ever asks the straight up questions. how easy is it for people to ring in and say hird is a great guy? that doesnt answer anything other than what a bunch hypocritical people follow afl football.

watching north melbourne last night finally show us what they are capable of, i would be gutted if i found out they were doing what the bombers where doing. i certainly wouldnt be patting them on the back,and i suspect nor would the media. North are small fry in victoria compared to Essendon without the dollars for QC after QC.

YES the bombers arent guilty of anything yet, officially.
BUT they are guilty of neglect and naivity .. - or disrepute at least. massive disrepute

As soon I saw that the interview was going to be conducted by Luke Darcy, I didn't bother with it. If it had been a serious interview trying to get to the truth, channel 7 would have employed someone like Mike Sheehan, Caroline Wilson, Damien Barrett or Mark Robinson (i.e. a proper journalist who knows how to question an interviewee). From what I read from the transcript it seemed high on emotion and low on substantiated evidence.

I think we just need to wait for the findings and facts to come out from ASADA (the AFL received the report yesterday). If Hird was found by them to have been overseeing the drugs program in the way that Robinson described then there will be no other way for him but immediate sacking. I have a feeling that this all could get fairly messy and end up in the courts if this occurs

As a "generalisation", all commercial radio/tv is full of personalities and contrived outcomes (basically reality TV etc). Why on earth anyone would listen to either barra or darcy, and expect intelligent reasoned debate?. According to barra, everyone is a "champion bloke",im sure if Hitler played on the half back flank, barra would still think he was an "ok" bloke. One only has to look at a current affair or today tonight to understand how commercial tv "does" current affairs

The thing that I dont get with this debacle, is WHY would Robinson come out in an interview like that and say all this stuff if it wasnt the truth? If it was all bullshit then he would get found out and it would ruin him for the rest of his life.

just heard the AFL despite having the asada report, may not come to a decision until after the season.
