Sad to hear that Peter Waltham has passed away. Some of the members on Ozfooty may not know of peter, I’m sure a lot of the members will. RIP Peter. Curtain Radio paid tribute to Peter and will have a full tribute at 9.00AM on Monday. Pissed off that 882 6Pr did not paid tribute to Peter, no wonder that their ratings have dive bombed.

For me he was the best newsreader along with Peter Holland when he was at the ABC, when men were allowed to read the news and compere current affairs programs.

If my memory serves correct he was moved on by 7 to make way for a much younger Rick Ardon and I don't think it was by mutual agreement.

Pity the selfish and greedy Rick Ardon and Susannah Carr don't move on and make way for the younger brigade that those two once were.

Peter Waltham was the best and worked right til the end. I often flick around the stations and 100.1 Curtin Radio is one of them. R.I.P. Peter you were the best.

Best newsreader WA Produced, watched him all through the 70s and 80s when he was the stand out presenter in a golden age of Perth TV. Peter reading the news with class and authority, Gary Carvolth and Percy Johnson at times with sport and the wonderful Sam Kronja doing weather with information and friendliness, Peter was a keen SFFC fan as well and would often be down the club in the 70s.

Great memories of him working hard at Telethon, interviewing Sammy Davis Jnr, various Premiers et al.

He made the move to STW 9 in what was big news in its own right at the time, a few short years later he disappeared from our screens completely, not really sure why.

He moved to Curtin Radio, mainly as a volunteer in semi retirement, can't say I ever listened in regularly but do recall coming across his dulcid tones, he had an amazing knowledge of music history.

Never sought out publicity or the highlife.

Apparently, he was a very keen wildlife lover and travelled to Africa a lot.

RIP Peter

I’ve previously recounted the story after we had a rare Freo Oval win,I spotted Pete in his car at the lights near the old Dingo Mill, and being a well known Doggy supporter,I couldn’t resist the temptation as a cheeky 13 year old, waving the Royals scarf in Pete’s direction, who was none too pleased!!,but Peter was a news reading icon, and may he rest in peace.

A great South Fremantle man.
I was doing volunteering work at Curtain Radio the day they changed from Am to FM. It was my second day there and I met Peter. Always welcomed you with a big smile.
A commentator of many sports and knew his stuff.Loved listenig to his Sheffield shield calls on TV.
Also had to control the bad boys of, "The footy show" on CH 7.
An icon  of the media.
Rest peacefully Pete.
