Australia's greatest comic Genius and export, Sir Les was my personal favourite.

Back when comedy was the real thing.

Won't see his likes again.

Very sad to hear the news. The comedy world is poorer tonight.

Very sad news about Barry Humphries' passing.
Before his health rapidly went downhill, by virtue of his age, I was just thinking that we'll likely never see Barry perform live again.
The boisterous, irrepressible Sir Les Patterson was also my favourite Humphries character, while I also really enjoyed Dame Edna Everage's cutting humour.
I also remember there was the ghostly Sandy Stone and trade union official Lance Boyle.

A national treasure has been lost, Humphries was a comedic genius, his several alter ego's satirised the Australian character and took our humour to the world. Left our shores for old Blighty in '59 and conquered that market, but the real achievement was to take the USA, which to me was very unexpected given the Septic's sense of humour is not all that sophisticated.

Humphries would have lamented the the current woke world and it's rediculous march to obliterate free speech and satirical comedy, one commentator said that if The Adventures of Barry Mckenzie was released today it would need to be cut to around 15 mins to comply with this evil anti free speech cult.

RIP Mr Humphries.

The Adventures of Barry McKenzie was a classic along with the sequels Bazza Pulls It Off and Bazza Holds His Own. But to me, the funniest thing I've read in years was Sir Les Patterson's book A Traveller's Tool.   He talks about his marriage to Lady Patterson and her going to a GP after the wedding night to find out what Sir Les' genitalia was all about, his cutting a swathe through the typing pool as the Cultural Attache to the Court of St James where he entertains one of the typists who didn't know what to do so he told her to hold onto it while he walked backwards and forwards and so it goes on.....very funny stuff.

If you haven't read it then I suggest you give it a go if you like that sort of thing as it was pure genius. Also the interview with Michael Parkinson and Jackie Weaver was hilarious when Sir Les cracked a woody...funniest TV I've seen in a long time.  RIP Bazza.
