There are rumors going around Melbourne about Collingwood/De Goeys, new contract negotiations. It has been claimed that Collingwood allowed De Goey a Bali getaway. On Collingwoods buy round, anticipating Jordon would get him self in trouble again.Like his trip to New York early in the new year.
De Goeys manager wanted a new contract 2023-27 of 3.2 mill over 4 years,$800,000 a year.Now Collingwoods offer is $2,000,000 over 4 years at 500k a year.
Collingwood have massive salary cap problems. There still back ending Adam Treloars contract at the Western Bulldogs about 300k a year.Gold Coast are paying half of Will Brodie's contract at Freo.
The AFL salary cap is 13.54 million a season.
The average AFL wage is $389,000 a season.
14 players are on $800,000 + a year,De Goeys target.

I think De Goey is going to be high maintenance where ever he goes. Clubs are probably weighing up whether he is worth the trouble

A big media and AFL beat up. What bunch of hypocrites the AFL are. I mean here they are making out they're concerned about players mental health then slam the guy for going to Bali and enjoying himself. FMD

I have a different view on this. I couldn't give a fk what Jordan De Goey or any other AFL players does when they are not out on the oval. I don't really want to know to be honest. Half these blokes would struggle to dress themselves without help. They shouldn't be seen as role models for anything apart from being fit, young and stupid. What "club values" are they offending? The whole AFL system has been built on bullying and non-transparency. It's only the last five minutes they've got on the gender, equality and diversity wagon.

Unfortunately the AFL is just a commodity these days - which is why the WAFL has been trashed because tradition doesn't count anymore - and is fixated on a 24/7 news cycle and selling product and protecting the corporate image in case little Timmy's mum won't let him play football because Jordan De Goey was off his nut in Bali. Unfortunately a byproduct of that for players is constant scrutiny and harassment outside the workplace.

And please, fk off the stupid drugs policy. Again, if an AFL player is dopey enough to get on the gear whilst playing, that's their problem. I don't care and don't want to know. It's pointless and ineffective to police recreational (not performance enhancing, that's a different thing) drug use in the AFL. It doesn't make sense to me.
