And the NZ game FROM Cricket Australia

www.cricket.com.au/news/2013/6/13/rain-d...alias-trophy-chances

Australia's ICC Champions Trophy hopes are hanging in the balance after their clash with New Zealand was declared a no result due to rain.

Full scorecard

The Aussies posted 8-243 from their 50 overs on Wednesday, but New Zealand's reply was cut short at 2-51 and could not be resumed after 15 overs due to the inclement conditions.
Both teams take a point from the game, meaning England could seal their place in the semi-finals with a win over Sri Lanka on Thursday.

Australia's start to the match had promised little, as Shane Watson edged to Luke Ronchi just seven balls and five runs into his innings.

And Phil Hughes soon followed him back to the pavilion, paying the price for poor communication with Matthew Wade by virtue of a Martin Guptill run-out.

Wade and George Bailey looked to stop that rot but saw their admirable stand ended when the latter was accounted for by a plumb Nathan McCullum lbw appeal having accrued 29 runs.

Bailey went for 55 not long after, but Adam Voges (71) and Glenn Maxwell (29) ensured New Zealand were set a respectable target of 244 to win.

Australia's defence of their total got off to a fine start, as Guptill walked for eight in the fourth over before Ronchi clipped into Watson's hands after making just 14.

However, the heavens soon opened and, after a lengthy wait, the umpires opted against the resumption of play to leave the teams sharing the spoils.

New Zealand now lead Group A courtesy of their point while Australia must beat Sri Lanka on Monday to stand any chance of progressing.

To much money is paid to nobody's and its getting to ther heads, why work hard at test cricket when you can be like Maxwell and get $1million for IPL, and he didnt even play a game

Agree 100% - way over payed underperforming bums...

Honestly cant even be bothered with them. Perhaps a 5 Nil smashing in the Ashes might wake up some of the numpty administrators here.

Nothing will change BAZZA :( I really think half the players and administrators are in DENIAL and cant even accept critism. The PR and Psychs must be busy boosting them up and telling them there is nothing to worry about.. There is certainly a lot to worry about. ;)

An interview with Kim Hughs with his opinion. Kim comes out with a few truths

Yeah, that was a bit harsh, apologies.
But you are right, sadly I dont like the aussies much. Battling to find anyone in the team I could support. Maybe Cowan, Rogers, Agar, thats about it. A bunch of big headed sportsmen with massive ego's and chips on their shoulders is how they come across to me.

Well, at least three of the players I like are in the Test team unbelievably. The world now knows about Agar (and everyone will be an expert) - only about 20 of us watching him in the shield game v Tas a few months ago. I saw GRASSY there that day actually

Tough luck for the kid, what a great innings. Don't underestimate the role that Hughes played in that partnership, he has matured as a cricketer

Apparently was involved in an altercation with an England player after the game on Saturday ( Joe Root - who?). He may be sent home as a result. This is the last thing the Australian team needed on the eve of an ashes series. Warner is on the verge of getting the flick I reckon and having a line put through his name. You think he would have kept his head low for a while after that Twitter stupidity.

Mike, If you dont know who Joe Root is I fear that you (and everyone else) soon will.
Averaging 42 after 6 tests ( 1 century and 2 half centuries). Averaging 53 after 11 ODI's. Averages 52 after 46 first class matches.

Stands up pretty well to the superhero in his own mind Warner (another ugly aussie thug). Averages 39 after 19 tests, averages 29 after 39 ODI's, Averages 45 after 31 first class matches.

Hey Mike - You got a handle on this 'Joe Root Who' fella yet?

Just being a smart arse mate. Shame that we have got to know him pretty damn quick hey? I love my Test Cricket - But I've been off the whole 'Cricket Australia' branding thing for a while and could see this coming. Would love to think we could turn this around but really cant fathom how? Hope to be proved wrong with a miraculous 3 test turn around...?

I will never forget a couple of years ago just before the big bash rubbish started up Cricket Australia hired a marketing tosser named McKenna (who isnt an Aussie I might add) and when this clown was quizzed by a reporter what would happen to the all important 100+yo Sheffield Shield competition with this expanded 20/20 comp he replied "who gives a toss" or words to that effect.
Well Mr McKenna the Australian Cricket public give a toss especially with how this Ashes Series has become almost a non contest due to us having no batsmen who can survive 20 bloody overs!
Its boofheads like McKenna & others from CA & their fascination with the big bash over first class cricket that has seen our Test ranks plummet over the last couple of years!
