I'm no movie buff but I've been around long enough to come up with a top ten so here goes. In no particular order.

1. Jaws - one of the all time classics.

2. Rocky - Sly definitely milked the Rocky brand to death but like Jaws is one of the greats. We've all been inspired by Rocky at some point including Leyton Hewitt, lol.

3. Mad Max - ahead of it's time and launched one of the most successful careers in Hollywood for Mel Gibson. Cantalini wants his hand back. Lol

4. Star Wars - others at school probably saw it 3 or 4 times before I saw it but it was a jaw dropping cinema experience.

5. James Bond franchise. Roger Moore for me used to pack the cinemas out in the 70's. Pure entertainment. Oh James! Daniel Craig in Casino Royale is probably my fav Bond movie.

6. Top Gun - a long awaited Top Gun 2 is due out but won't go close to raking in what Top Gun original did. It wasn't just Tom Cruise it had an All Star cast. Can't see the new one coming close.

7. A Few Good Men - Tom, Jack, Kevin Bacon and Demi Moore. An all time classic. They just don't make'm like that anymore.

8. Dirty Dancing - Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. No one puts baby in the corner. How many times has that line been used? Another classic.

9. The Man From Snowy River - Tom Burlinson, Jack Thompson, Kirk Douglas (playing two feuding brothers - can't remember that happening before or since) and the adorable Sigrid Thornton. A cinema masterpiece that knocked the socks out of Hollywood though probably never got the true recognition it deserved.

10. Taken - Liam Neeson. I have a very unique set of skills acquired over a long period of time. If you let her go that will be the end of it. But if you don't, I will find you, and I will kill you. Good luck. Lol luv it.

I know I know I didn't put The Shawshank Redemption in my top ten. The Warden is the star in that one for me. I'll pull you out of that one bunk Hilton and cast you down with the sodomites, you'll think you've been fucked by a train... Absolute Classic!

Very tough DD, so many great movies I like.

1. Generally love WW II movies and The Longest Day was always a favorite.( Saving Private Ryan up there as well) to many good ones to list.
2. The God Father I and II , once again the mafia genre is one I like, Goodfellas another one. III was rubbish.
3. Star Wars, one of the few Sci Fi I really liked
4. Bond Movies, ( the classic era Goldfinger etc.)
5. Aussie Movies, Wake in Fright a goodie and Dons Party.
6 The big epics, Ben Hur and 10 Commandments.
7. John Wayne, the Train Robbers and The Searchers
8. Comedy - In Search of the Holy Grail, A Mad Mad World, The Party.
9. All the Presidents Men
10. 12 Angry Men ( the original ).

So many to choose from so really hard to collate a top 10, but here's mine.

1 Lawrence of Arabia - epic by any measure of the term, O'toole was brilliant.
2 Star Wars - for a late '70's movie it broke so much new ground visually.
3 American beauty - Brilliantly written & acted, Anette Benning should have won the Oscar.
4 Fight Club - The two leads are brilliant in such an offbeat storey.
5 The Usual Suspects - wonderful movie, keeps you guessing till the very last minute.
6 Whiplash - The sadistic lecturer is one of the all time baddies, music is sensational.
7 Apocalypse Now - Relentlessly brutal and brilliant, shows the true futility of war.
8 Alien - Fantastic strong female lead v the best movie monster of all time.
9 A clockwork Orange - Wierd brutal and amazing for a movie made so long ago.
10 Full Metal Jacket - The first 30 minutes says it all.

Remember all the disaster movies in the 70's. Towering Inferno, Earthquake and The Poseiden Adventure.

In more recent times though late 90's I think Titanic. Who didn't get a mongrel when Kate Winslet got her kit off?

I'd include Schindler's List as well after going to Auschwitz a few years ago...a great Spielberg film that really resonated plus the fact the original book was written by Australian Tom Keneally and is based on fact.

Shawshank Redemption, Gallipoli....
