Feel for you Mike as a great supporter, and the fairest and most respected person on this forum. To be honest for three quarters you should be proud Swans played a competitive game. What separates the likes of Subiaco and Claremont is the conditioning and A grade midfielders. You need more speed dump the draft horses like Howlett and Payne and you will sharpen up immediately. I heard Howlett is guaranteed a league spot is that correct?

A bad loss by Swans today.
Was looking at the online score and saw they had 9 scoring shots to Claremont's 6 up to ½ time.
Then Swans only having 2 scoring shots in the second half. On the other hand Claremont having 14.
Swans going down by the 34 points being their biggest losing margin for the season thus far.
Claremont I think move into 3rd place on the league ladder and give the percentage a bit of a boost too.

Was there as a neutral from half time. What I got out of it was that it was a tough and enjoyable 3rd quarter. Swans looked fitter in the last. Both teams strong and tackling superb. Both teams a lot bigger than Perth. Crowd good and was refreshing to hear Claremont supporters getting excited you don't hear that from Subi Supporters. Swans supporters alway great.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Claremont barely got out of 3rd gear apart from the last quarter, Swans gave it a real crack in the first half and had enough of the midfield ball but the delivery to the forwards and the general team system was non existent and made things easy for Hamp, Busher and others to mop up. The 2nd half was all one way traffic and even though we were still only 1 point down at 3 quarter time it might as well have been 61 such was the lack of self belief in the group at that stage. It just didnt seem like a Swans team running around Bassendean today. The mighty fighting black and whites that I have been following since I was a young boy, even if they were in the lower end of the ladder which has been many times since 1970, they would always make an opposition earn their victory at Bassendean. Today Claremont were toying with us like a cat with a mouse, just doing enough to get the 4 points. I feel for guys like Notte and Riggio who have given the club their best over a long period of time but Swans have now lost 17 of their last 20 games and as a supporter I amlosing faith in the football department

In how many games this year (and probably last year) have we had around 50-100 less possessions than the opposition and yet also laid a lot less tackles than them as well?
Therein lies one of the many things wrong with SD at the moment!

Their fitness has to be questioned as they don't run out games.

I made the same point on another SD thread Roman. In 9 rounds this year Swans have won just 2 last qtrs even though in 4 of those games they lost they were in front at 3 qtr time and two others less than a goal behind....go figure.

I appreciate your kind words Royal 2019. I am still scratching my head as to what Howlett adds to Swans as he appears slow and his disposal is nothing out of the ordinary. I hope that he hasnt been guaranteed a league spot because he doesnt deserve that. Come to think of it nobody deserves that even if your name is Gary Ablett.

Palmer has been a loss Gtrx and would have provided that extra experienced midfielder.

Just checked those figures for 2019 BH and the discrepancy is staggering. In 9 games this year, Swans have had 521 less possessions than their opposition, 172 less marks, 92 less tackles and 42 less inside 50s! They have not won the disposal counts in any of their games even the victories and they won the tackle count marginally in their two victories against West Perth and West Coast and also in what was probably their best performance of the season in a loss to Subiaco. These stats are quite damning for both the players and the coaches and point to a total lack of intensity and effort in most games. You can be outplayed by a better opponent but at the very least you should be able to tackle them and put pressure on them which Swans are consistently not doing. I'm sure if we did the figures for 2018 it would be a similar story.
