*** I was bloody shocked to hear that Garry Sidebottom has left us - he had some talent Sidey & lifted in the State games for sure , and a funny guy too.
My deep regards to the Sidebottom clan on their big loss & to the Swan Districts Footy Club while we're there.

BY thought I read some where Fazioli had signed to play country footy some where....South West or Peel leagues......Eaton Boomers?

As for Palmer returning, going on the size of his suture line and extent of his injuries, will be very surprised if he comes back this year.....even at all....the fella is fortunate to be still around....not sure playing contact sport with a patched up liver is the wisest choice to make.....tho didn't Lonergan return after a nasty liver injury....or was that kidney?

Looks like a reasonable team first up. The surprise to me is that Ellard is playing ressies. Does anyone know if he played any preseason games? On paper Souths look superior although games are not played on paper thankfully.

South r missing prob about 5 of our best with Pickett being the biggest out...a number of unproven youngsters in our side so will interesting to see how they fair

I dont think Ellard played a pre season game Mike same with a few others like Raynor, Hackett etc

A very large under-rated unit was a very big reason you guys didn't take them chocolates today - Higgins took on & beat two of the best ruckmen in the comp today by himself - otherwise it would have been yours for sure

Game dominated by both half back lines.With terrible delivery into both fwd lines.Swans allmost stole it at the end with a shot after the siren.Swans have something to work with this year.Souths deserved the narrow win.

Scrappy game - a battle of half back lines - with South's deserved victors. Higgins outstanding, giving all red and white guernseys around him an arm-chair ride. Payne and W. Wilson outstanding for Swans, with Simpson showing that he has something to contribute.

Bad luck Deano, the pack mark at the end deserved a hero's finish.
