You blokes will be ok, you have managed to bounce back immediately after hidings and this week v CL will be no exception. EF have not beaten any other team than Perth so it is highly unlikely you will lose that one, christ we just beat them to give you an indication.

SD have this ugly habit of not showing up some weeks and this appears to be another episode. We have struggled v Claremont and EF in the last round, not showing up prepared to play hard in both of those matches. Highly likely we will limp thru to the end of season from here and not make finals. There has not been a season under Harding's tutelage that we have finished off strong and 2017 will end no different especially considering the coach has announced he is taking his bat & ball. A much better season by our players in 2017 but we are cooked. The only hope for this team is if the sun comes out for the remainder of the year as we are a much better team when conditions don't challenge our desire ie no wind no rain some sunshine please

DW it was sunny for the league game.

Yes possibly but with a slight chill in the air and a breath of wind we might as well be playing in the bogs & marshes of Scotland. I believe we are a pretty decent side in fine weather where we can mark a clean ball, not sure we are quite the same in the wet or wind.

So DW do you subscribe to BH's contention that we won't win another league game this season.

There is always hope 42...depends which SD team ventures down to the ground. The CL is a 50/50 match...they always trouble us and we were a rabble against them last time putting in a performance our very own coach described as "the worst performance in the history of SD and possibly the history of the WAFL". I said at the time this was probably the end for Harding and it turned out to be true. Was probably the very weekend he determined to pull the pin going on the 4 week timeline the west article mentioned. Let's hope the players redeem themselves against the opposition group that embarrassed them just a few weeks ago. One thing I am sure of is that it's up to the players from here if our season is going to end with a few highs. I do believe this coaching group are fulfilling their final days at the club with a spring clean coming in 2018.

Interesting observation DW...do you believe Harding and the coaching staff should vacate the box for the remaining 2 games of our season seeing as though they will not be there next season?

Interesting question BH.....many businesses pay out and remove staff immediately once they have given notice for fear of the damage they may do in their final weeks "who gives a flying f..k" of their job. In this case I do not believe Harding is this type of character so feel it is fine for him to continue and support guys like Taryce and Sam Taylor in their quests to be drafted. I am still at loggerheads as to why he couldn't wait till the end of the season to announce his departure. Said it was for the good of the club so they have plenty of time to search for a new coach. Whilst announced with best intentions I'm not so sure this action taken in good faith is the best thing for a football team on the verge of finals. My gut feeling is after the Claremont game Harding thought 'what the hell, we are no chance anyway' so decided why not announce. Does he have another gig to go to? The rumour mill suggests yes but only Greg knows for sure and is keeping his cards very close to his chest if that is the case. I have no animosity towards him. He has tried hard to improve our club's football with limited resources so deserved the right to call time as he felt right. If we limp through to a pitiful end to the season then clearly the risk he took in declaring his intentions early will have back fired. Coaches have to make tough calls some times even on themselves. Let's hope the players fire up for a final assault on the season. Only then will I be able to say the correct decision was made.

Be interested in your thoughts here BH as well as others. Gotta admit I am growing tired of our club limping in to August and September footy which in reality is when you need to be at your best

If we lose the next 2 do not deserve to play finals. One would think Harding would like one last chance to win a final or 2 at the club. Reality is we need to improve dramatically over next fortnight to give ourselves a shot. Hope we get that fine weather I've requested which may just awaken us out of our winter slumber

made too many mistakes to be in the game on the weekend, dropped marks and short passing were terrible.
even the reliable Ugle made a lot of mistakes.
without Riggio and Ellard we lack quality in the middle,Gault, Faulkner and Crowley worked hard but the Eagles didnt allow us to get on top in the key positions and had too many runners around the ground.
that Rioli has a long way to go fitness wise, had 4 goals land in his lap but wouldnt have run more than 10 metres all day, a team like Subi will run off him all day.
always a long day when a seagull like Masten gets kicks at will.

You under estimate the talent of Rioli he is elite talent even in his round shape. Sub 3 second for 20m, hamstrings and perhaps diet have held him back this year. He could easily play against GWS this week and kick goals, I doubt any WAFL side holds any fear for him. His foot skills and goal sense are as good as anyone I have watched live.

didnt say he wasnt talented, he isnt fit and you are on another planet if you think he could play afl footy this weekend against a top team and do well, to be in that shape as a professional footballer would indicate he has a lot of work to do, if he was in the Swans team he wouldnt have got a kick.
Liam Ryan is a mile better footballer at the moment.

I'm safely on Earth Mark and I watch these Eagles guys every week. He is light years in front of some of them that are getting games now. That's even in his current shape off one and half league games. I won't knock Ryan who is better aerially perhaps but given a showdown Rioli vs Ryan I think Rioli has more upside. If the Eagles get this guy up and running he will dominate in the AFL.

maybe if he gave up the meat pies for a few weeks he might prove you correct, at this stage he is more Sibby and Dean than Cyril and Maurice.
Heath Shaw would get 40 kicks for GWS playing on Rioli who would need a deckchair after 5 minutes to sit down.
