First of all I hope he's ok health-wise

Lets just hope sanity prevails & Aaron is persuaded to resume at Swans - way too talented to be lost to a country league side

Totally agree Southerner. He has been an excellent player for Swans in the last few years and I hope they can talk him into a return if in fact the rumour is true.

I`m with MD on this, I also heard the same rumours on Friday night that Elari has left the club and I think it is weak as piss to leave when the going gets tough but that shows the blokes true colours, he wont have any mates in WAFL footy after he is finished playing in woop woop, anyone else not on the same page as the current coaching structure should be shown the door too, and if that means we don't win another game this year then so be it, the season is dead anyway

I think that's a very harsh assessment on a guy who has given a lot of his heart and soul to the club in the last few years. Don't forget we are just working on rumours and none of us know the circumstances of his departure if in fact this is true. If it turns out Elari has left, he joins a growing list of players who have departed the club prior to the season or since round 1. Rather than make sweeping statements on the character of these players I would be asking some questions about the culture within the playing group and the state of the relationship between the players and the coaching staff.

not surprised if he has gone.
what coach would take an in and under midfielder and tried to turn him into a forward when kicking and pace is not his strength.
played out of positon all year..
I heard Harding say the other week they are trying to get him to play the Ryan Davis role, one of the dumbest things I have heard, he is an under the packs rover, not a Davis player.
wish Harding would flick himself, started the season with his dumb Newman call and gone downhill since...

The Ryan Davis role was to be the best player in the comp when behind at 3/4qtr time according to every 3/4qtr time huddle I heard last year. Elari is a solid WAFL performer but a very different skill set to Davo. I'm with you MO, ridiculous idea at best

Coming from a Perth supporter your comments are spot on. If Harding wanted someone to fill Ryan Davis's shoes I would have thought the likes of Rogers or Riddock would be more likely candidates and Elari is not the first player to leave a WAFL club mid season to play ammos or country footy and won't be the last.

Perhaps he's looking at a return home to the Demons? ;)

Sounds like the guy is being played out of position for crap money and has jumped ship for better money and more than likely playing in his preferred position....smart move considering how short an individuals footy career can be......loyalty doesnt pay the bills.....be interested to see if Harding goes at the end of the year Elari comes back in 2017.....would he be welcomed back?......wonder if Malaxos got the gig life would be any better.....very much a "my way or hit the highway" coach from all reports ole Stavros......

Yes I have been generally supportive of Harding and given that he is working with limited resources, I think he has done a good job up to this year with the constraints but I must admit he has come out with some strange statements so far this season. The real doozy was the Newman one as MO said. I am wondering if he is looking over his shoulder at Malaxos and how the relationship is going there.

As for Elari, we are not going to be as good a side without him. Swans cannot afford to lose any experienced players. To say that it gives another young player an opportunity is a simplistic argument because the experienced blokes like Ames, Simpson etc are teaching the young players good habits and are needed to show the way. If he has left Swans should make an effort to get him back and have a discussion about how he can best contribute to the team which is in the middle of the ground fighting for the ball, not some high half forward role which he has looked like a fish out of water. If he did walk out and get talked into coming back he would have to do some penance in the ressies I guess.

every game he has played in his best position he has played his heart out and got smashed week in week out and always gets up and keeps going..
Elari is one of the last blokes I would ever bag for leaving as he plays for the jumper every week, cant kick and not quick but on the bottom of every pack.
and then the coach tried to turn him into a half forward and wonders why he cant get a kick or score a goal and then moves him back into the mid-field after half time every week.
dumb coaching and Harding's answer to everything is to just play more kids as that will stop the scrutiny on his coaching ability.
