Had a high opinion of SD when saw play WP and looked like a danger side and played like a well oiled machine.
But then the axe fell WP came from 26 points behind at end of Last Qtr
Cla knocked them over in the country
Soobicash flow ate them

Swans have problems

2 Winnable games comming up you say? Dont think so
Subi not happy with performance today you say... Shit they won in a canter
The whole game was pretty ordinary from Swans point of view (gee thats an understatment) :(

Swans have to ability to bounce back I am sure and will be in the Top 5 but work to be done

So you are now suddenly an expert on Swans. Did you see the game today? Assumed you would have been at Joondalup?

Your on drugs Cardy obviously, your mob are well and truly placed well above where you should be on performance, as nothing I have seen from WP has impressed me enough to say you are flag contenders this yr. I am glad you knocked off the soft duckers and divers from Moss st but you need to keep it real Subi are miles in front at this stage and Claremont are the big shadow bearing down on everyone
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

Tough day for footy. The breeze was far stronger and trickier than people would have realised if they weren't at the ground. Subiaco were without Wortho and smith came in as swans started the better early 1st quarter before Subiaco came back well and probably set up the win by being even on the scoreboard kicking against the breeze.
Kitchin Mahoney and Phelan had the ball on a string through the middle for Subiaco with rumba & heal good down back. For swans big Nathan Blakey was on fire early with elari having a crack along with J Simpson Faulkner and Ames as always down back. The game was uninspiring with both teams making heaps of mistakes.
Stevo went off with a knee injury - poor bugga as he's been playing well again this season and he's done a knee b4. Della played well across half forward in his 1st game back.

In the second it was all Subiaco with swans scoreless. Swans just made too many skill errors although they had good endeavour they just didn't have enough run through the middle by their mids. Deluca soccered a great goal to set up a good quarter with the breeze, Halagan got crunched and came off while broad played brilliantly on yarran. As he got frustrated with his lack of influence yarran played for free kicks, went to ground too much and must learn that it isn't going to be easy every week. He still had a go but it wasn't his day.

In the 3rd swans had heaps of the ball early with the breeze but couldn't score a major. Hancock was starting to have more of an influence for Subiaco and Kennedy was going ok while swans steadied with a great goal from Rodgers to make the diff only 20 points as subi wasted numerous chances up forward with a wasteful 1.6 against the breeze, swans were more accurate kicking 3.2. Geappen seemed to be getting frustrated for swans & wasn't having a influence on the game till he kicked a great running goal b4 Rodgers goal. While notte and Ames continued to play well down back for swans, broad played yarran like a glove. Elari continued to get the pill but he was ineffective with his disposal which was unfortunate as his endeavour could not be questioned. Deluca did well getting his 3rd goal, kitchin, Phelan, Robinson all got involved and madut was running & tackling hard. Swans had a bit of a run late in the quarter with ugle playing well but they really weren't playing well enough to mount a serious challenge into the last quarter when they were going to be kicking against the breeze.

In the last subi steadied while yarran missed an early attempt followed by a good snap from waters & shortly after geapen ran through the mark to gift a goal to Lockyer followed quickly by a snap from Robinson to stretch the lead out to 34 points. Yarran finally bothered the scoreboard with his 1st goal and the match was blowing out to a more true reflection of subis dominance.

Not a great game - subi did what they had to and had better run and class than swans making less errors.
There's no doubt swans have a good bunch of young players to work with but they're still finding their feet.
Subi still could have played better but will be happy with the winning margin considering the conditions but it could have well been more. Great 1st game back from della but I feel for poor old stevo out for 12 months with his second knee ???

On a lighter note got a good laugh when the subi mascot was shooting subi shirts into the stands for the kids @ half time. A good idea but his judgement wasn't the best as about 5 landed on the roof or over the stands. A good idea but not that effective ???

Cheers for the report Chopp, was struggling for a signal out at the mine site all day so had to rely on ABC's score updates. Sounds like Fezz had a day out.

Point taken Astro...no need to give match summary...that is basically what the difference was today. Top job by Broad on Yarran for 3 1/2 qtrs is all that needs to be added from a Swans perspective. Mids got smashed by a much slicker outfit but right now it doesn't matter...more concerned about getting some feeling back in to my face fingers & toes. Leederville Oval must be the most shit ground in WA to go and watch the footy when it is wet & windy. The place goes Antarctic on you and you suddenly find yourself disinterested in the footy and more concerned about surviving hypothermia. Honestly I'd rather have a bloody ice bath right now than go sit back in that bloody stand. Rather than applaud Subi and blast my team's performance all I'm going to offer this evening is a solid congratulations to every single spectator who braved the weather today, went the distance and survived the afternoon. To the dozen or so eskimoes on the outer...your are my eternal heroes....back in Indo on Monday... TFFT!!!!!

Edit: Almost forgot to mention Andrew Embley's get up today. In the words of Andy Holmes "have you ever seen a bloke from Basso & Eden Hill ever even attempt to wear a suit like that". John Travolta eat your bloody heart out mate. Sensational effort Embles hahaha

Haha, ripper report DW, funny shit !!!

SD, its too up and down atm, we r up and building momentum but then we have a 2 week break. We are definitely capable of getting close to Subi. CL can be beaten (clearly) and won't be a stand out above the rest of the comp but still a quality unit as we all knew they would bounce back.

Some interesting comments above but getting this back on topic as I indicated to some SD fans when the team selections came out we were going in far too top heavy in the wet & windy conditions playing Blakely, Houghton, Nuich & Cary on top of Geappen coming back in whilst dropping probably our best users of the footy in Wilson & Nelson and an important cog in the back 6 in Kirkup ...bizarre, ludicrous or both?!

One thing we do have all over $ubi tho is in development with our Colts with 15 players out through injury & state 18's/PSA commitments having a very good win in the tough conditions!
