BH the skill level was shocking for both sides but this could of been the tempo of the game. SD were so fast and usually hit their target. I could see a big loss comming up for our guys and rather than run SD players down I suggest you give them a pat on the back for great team effort..... I dont know what happened at the end.. Maybe Swans took their foot off the pedal thinking it was a done thing. Even up to the 5 minute mark they were dead set winners in my book.

It was an incredible effort by the WP players to fight until the end and take out the win.
Dont ask me to analyze the final 10 minutes because the turn around by WP was totally outside the momentum of the game.
Bit like getting a goal against the flow but getting 5 goals goes well beyond that.

Thanks for a great game Swannies in the Anzac spirit and a very strange result in my books. Do they drug test players after the game in WAFL :)

From what I saw SD are far from finished and will go on to win many games and get a place in the 5.

Yes it was certainly a game of momentum shifts and West Perth got the last one. I think young Meadows long goal at about the 20 minute mark sparked your guys into action and from there on in WP got all the centre clearances and Swans guys were just running up and down on the spot. At the end I was just hoping we could cling on for a draw as the scores were level for a while there, but no excuses, Swans only played 3 and a half quarters and your guys hung in there well and rode the wave home.

Simple Cardy, the last ten minutes of the game we won the clearances and had loose men in the forward line. Even Bill said after the game they were just to pack up the computers and ready to leave to go downstairs with seven minutes to go. Lowry played on the best full back in the league and was clearly beaten. Strijk was not right, he didn't hit his targets and always chose the short option, he hobbled off the ground. The little blokes kicked in and the rest is history.

The Swannies fans singing the nah nah nah nah x 2 yeah yeah yeah goodbye ! Would have spurred us on a bit too, in all fairness, we were 26 down at the 25min mark.

Disappointing result, great crowd for WAFL footy and even greater comeback by West Perth totally against the grain. We have done that to a few sides in the last 12 mths. One thing to learn is I doubt either team will feature in the Grand Final play off but on their respective days can be nuisance value to the non G6 teams leading in and maybe scrape into the 5
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

Noticed some interesting stats from this match.
For the home team, Swans had 31.2 disposals/ goal, just over 3 disposals inside 50M/ goal, pace rate of 20.5% and total game ball disposals of 52.8%.
Swans obviously had plenty of the ball during the game.
West Perth were running at
28 disposals/ goal
4.2 disposals inside 50M/ goal
25.1% pace rate
and just 47.1% of the total game ball disposals.

Leedy that was directed at the West Perth supporters who were leaving the ground and most certainly not at the West Perth players. For the record I wasn't one of the ones singing.

so what was the cause for this fade out boys?.....youngsters running out of puff.....umps?.....or the wind?......interesting to see Ridley dropped to the colts....was that more so because the state boys will go missing now for the next 6 - 8 weeks?

One of those things that happen sometimes. Swans did the same to South Freo at Fremantle last year. There was a moment at around the 20 minute mark of the last quarter where Matt Rogers took a mark about 40 metres out from goal, Swans were 26 points up. Instead of shooting for goal, he tried to centre the ball to a free player closer to goal, however the West Perth players managed to spoil and quickly moved the ball up the ground and scored a goal. This sparked West Perth into action and they virtually got all the clearances from then on.

Swans were obviously spent and there was suddenly heaps of space in the West Perth forward line where there hadn't been all day. I don't know if Harding could have put all 22 players behind the ball to make it difficult for them, maybe they would have still won anyway.

We were still in front when we got a rare counter attack going and Rudy Riddoch took a sliding mark in the forward pocket, but unfortunately he took the mark centimetres over the boundary line and WP got the ball back.

I guess you just have to salute the West Perth players for lifting when it really counted. This will no doubt give them a lot of confidence that they can win games from any position just like it did for Swans at Freo last year
