Pretty hard for BC to show respect SD, when one minute you are telling him to f-off...

I think the above is typical of the modern football followers train of thought, the era component does not cut it with me Freeze, they both have pro,s & con,s. Todays WAFL players train harder than the blokes in the 70s, have game plans to adhere to, the 60s/70s champs were in the kick and hope era and had 2 or 3 doigs at 1/2 time !

The modern WAFL footballer deserves more accolades than they get, Jason Salecic is a champion in my eyes and Josh Roberts isn't far behind him.

Agreed! When we watch some of the old footage from the 70`s in all reality some of the players today are more skillful and definately fitter. And yes Sala and JRo are 2 standouts WAFL champs and no wonder they have both captained our state

do you seriously think Roberts would captain, let alone win a berth in a WA state of origin team, even in his prime?....who would he keep out?......I can't think of any current or 2012 WAFL player that would seriously command a WA state side encompassing SANFL/VFL WA based players!!

Thats not the question Freezer! Knowone was stating anything like that..here is a link to the announcement, have a read of Greg Hardings comments towards Roberts..and Jro would have aquitted himself extremily well in AFL he is as hard as any of those prima donnas running around today!

yeah SD, what like I said, he is a hard no thrills sort of player who led his side fantastically from the front.....no better than what Steve Bilich did for EF in his time....and Stevo aint no WAFL champ....just a very good WAFL player....Bilich aint no Maurice Rioli or Brian Peake or Phil Narkle...as Roberts isn't too.....and those three guys were true WAFL champs...wouldn't you agree?

Mate i was never comparing Robbo to anyone! a WAFL champ can be defined a number of ways and is a matter of individual opinion..Bilcich was a great WAFL player and commands respect too

Thank you very much to Josh Roberts for the loyal service he has given the mighty Black Ducks! I wish him all the best for life after footy.

Very glad to have seen Josh play and basically seen him progress throughout his footy career. He was there back in our dark days around 2000 along with Amesy and I'm glad to see that he finally got a premiership medallion in 2010.

Rarely wasn't Josh in our best players and a top possession winner whether it was a win or loss.

Our midfield won't be the same without Josh.

Sad to see J-Ro pull the pin as he still had a couple of years left in him ..a Swans & WAFL champ with 4 or 5 F&B's to his name ..ive got no doubt tho that football genius BC rates Pickett a champion with his 1 or 2 F&B's!!
Maybe he should just stick to driving his audi around the Western Suburbs than comment on players he has no idea about seeing as tho he has never been to Basso Oval to watch a game too far away apparently!!
