This is more than just your average footy game. It is a tribute to a man who has done so much for the two clubs and I hope thousands turn up to mark the occasion. The John Todd cup will take on extra meaning this year and the team that wins this encounter will treasure the result.
Souths are flying this year so they will certainly start favourites but Swans have got their season back on track with 3 wins from the last 4 games and it will be a hard fought and emotional match.
May the best team win.

As well as being a tribute to JT on Saturday, this game also gives Swans supporters and members an opportunity to recognise Tony Notte in his first home game since he clocked up his 300th. We usually see lots of Souths supporters when they play at Bassendean so hopefully they come up in droves this week to create a great atmosphere at the game

Germs looks to have been dropped for Blakely which is crazy coming up against Branchi. In Blakely’s 6 games he’s had 90 odd hit outs and we’ve won 1 hit out count. In Germs 2 games he’s had over 70 hit outs and we’ve won both counts convincingly. Looks like we will be playing from our back half again and with Souths not letting teams score highly this looks to be a dour affair as we more than likely try to chip our way back down the field if our backs can withstand the onslaught.

Yes exactly D. Souths defensive half is going to be a headache for Swans this afternoon.

Absolutely superb 4 quarter performance by the team, never gave Souths a sniff. Tackling was elite and shut down many of Souths key playmakers. Our defence was absolutely watertight. But for a few junk time goals in the last quarter they were impassable in the 2nd half and worked together brilliantly. I know why they pick Doc over Germs. He may not get as many taps but by golly he competes hard and he was working his guts out around the ground today and set up a lot of Swans plays linking in with the midfielders. We were just too fast and desperate for the Doggies. Toddy would have enjoyed that one from his viewing spot in the sky.

Unfortunately the Midland train line was down today.+ A live Dockers telecast from Melbourne.Clashing with the start of the John Todd Cup.Think we got around 5000 +.Great modern day Wafl crowd.
Swans where fantastic in the second qtr.Souths blasted the ball fwd most of the qtr.We repelled most attacks and scored on the counterattacks.
Switching play to the fat side out of defence.Running chain of handpasses out of defence. Also through the midfield.
Hitting fwd targets on the chest with strong leads.Wont stop Tommy E from trying to take a hanger(.Love the boy ).
Disposal by foot was excellent.Over handpassed in some passages of play. But doesn't it look good when it comes off.
To many good players to review the performances.Clarke,MClachlan,,Reidy,Pina, Chipper just a few .

I thought your coach did his homework against what it is considered a vastly experienced coach
and that was when the fat girl sang loud & proud
our coach and his selectors totally misread the room and to be honest were totally insipid all day long
we paid the price and did not honour the late great John Todd
full stop

Southerner you had a lot of inside 50 entrys in the second qtr.But just kept hitting the 25  metres out from goal, big bombs.Easy for an organised defence to repel such attacks.
Is your fwd line a touch oversized.Didnt see a lot at ground level.Pretty easy for Swans to run the ball out of defence.
15 shots at goal from 51 inside 50's
Swans only had 37 inside 50's

the selections for such an important match were to be honest substandard mate
and that is being extremely kind in description
the glaring example being Aaron Drage who courageously amassed 50 possessions after being dumped
now the dickhead no-hoper who mindbogglingly kept his spot was near on useless as always and provided Swans a very easy run off on each and every occasion
there's a few players who are going backwards and really do need a new approach and fires lit under their arses and I mentioned some yesterday
times up and action is required immediately
I do not think we are worthy of finals at the moment regardless of the wins so far
