If you added up games won/lost of all wafl colts sides over the last twenty years you would see that swans colts have won the least games. The reason for this is the same thing I've been banging on about for years- the zoning is unfair and unreasonable. The wafl only considers the amount of players in an area to determine zones and doesn't consider anything else. There is no demographic profiling.

This filters through the reserves and to the league team. The result? Swans league team is full of players from other clubs and over east. Which is fine while we have the means to do this. But as soon as we don't we go back to coming second last most years.

Let Claremont and Swans swap zones for 5 years and see how good our colts would be then. I notice when the wafc decided East Perth needed a larger zone a number of years back they didn't give them Chidlow or Mt Helena, they gave them Ellenbrook.

More to the point goodie the weak as p!ss in the pocket of EP WAFC didnt give EP an area like Subiaco, Scarborough, Wembley etc (all from Claremonts zone & reasonably close to Leederville) but instead gave them Ellenbrook off us!
FFS in my 33 years of WAFL footy I dont think Claremont's Colts have ever missed the finals!

Claremont colts have missed the finals only 4 times since 1980. They were 5th in 1981, 6th in 1989, 5th in 2000 and 6th in 2002. The last time they finished 7th was 1970, and they have finished last(8th)twice in 1959 and 65. They have never finished in 9th position.

Mad Dog wrote: This result is scary!! I don't think I've ever seen a score line like this in any WAFL game before and I know this is a colts game but it should not be tolerated. I don't care how good Souths colts are,I don't think it's right that our colts get pushed up to play reserves. They are either good enough to play league or they stay playing colts.
Even before this I was doubting our colts programme as there are players getting a game who I know are clearly not up to scratch or going to cut the mustard.
On the other hand,South clearly have a colt or 3 capable of playing league football and should be giving them an opportunity IMO.

Why shouldn't they play ressies?

As has been mentioned by several here that there are a significant number of colts' players who have been promoted to the ressies. This is a deliberate decision to ensure that we are best placed to be able to succeed when the competition becomes a competition with 7 legitimate WAFL clubs plus two interlopers.

For those who don't like the score come down to the colts' game at Basso on Saturday and support our colts' team. You will be most welcome in the Macca Stand.

yet CL haven't won the flag every one of those 33 years either.....colts or league....don't forget CL were shite for how many years before your 33 years BH?....no one complained back then about zones then......just a fact of life Perth today is no longer the Perth it was back then......who's to say in 10 years the dynamics of WAFL zones won't change again......Christ EP zone where I played in the 70's was strong..... how many flags did EP and Perth win in the 60's/70's?.....

things change new area's become old area's......rich area's become not so rich areas and vice versa .....geez it was only 5 years ago SD went back to back in the colts......are you telling me that's the WAFC fault for where SD colts are today?......no one controls who lives where or who moves where.....

everyone is up in arms about how the WAFL will die....the great traditions will die......yet part of those traditions are the fact that CL zone is where it is, has been and always has been......same as EF same as SD etc etc .....start mucking around with who has what zone and then people shouldn't be whinging for how the AFL bit of the WAFL is becoming more pronounced......you either want to keep the WAFL tradition or not?.....you can't pick and choose to suit.....develop the comp yeah no probs......but where do you start stop etc?

Ive found some colts scores lower than the 1.1 from Swans.
East Perth 0.0 v East Fremantle 22.19 Rd 20 1962
Claremont 0.1 v East Perth 12.20 Rd 12 1967
Perth 0.6 v East Perth 20.26 Rnd 4 1983
Swan Districts 0.5 v Claremont 29.15 Rd 19 1988

These scores are from 1960-89. I need to update my records for the colts and reserves, and hope to do it over the summer months.
And who could ever forget East Perth's league score of 0.9 v West Perth in round 20 of 2003? 2 points higher than Swans colts score last weekend, but still worth a mention. At least the Swans colts kicked a goal.
