Just wondering if anyone has any goss on how the squad is faring with training, how people think Swans will perform this year. I must admit I was hoping to hear something from the new coach by now. I know it is still 2 months out from the season but German for example has already conducted a few sessions for Perth members outlining his vision for the club.

My sense is that we are still not up to the level of the top 3 contenders so will probably be in the group of teams battling for 4th and 5th spot. What is unknown is how the players buy into the plan that the coach has developed.

It was mentioned on another thread that Jarrod Cameron was training with Swans. He will be a good addition although he would have to have a chance of being picked up in the pre season draft.

Be great if he was back at the club but idve thought Cameron is a long, long way off being picked up and we’d be lucky if he even made it to round 1.

Brad Lynch won’t be returning as earlier rumored, he has signed with Essendon VFL.

Hopefully we have recruited another ruck to help Germs. Wonder if we ever entered the race for Broadbent??? A genuine ruck/fwd would be nice.

I hope Brodie Morris get more opportunities in the ruck this year. He impressed in the few games he played last year.

Glass-Mccasker will be a good support to Germs and Morris as well.

I'd like to see Glass-Mccasker play in defence. Will cover Notte's absence in defence and help stablise our defence. This would provide Chris Jones with an opportunity to play more forward then.  With Doc Blakely's return, I would see him as backup ruck to Germs.

We shall wait and see now.

Pretty comprehensive belting from Subiaco today. The score probably flattered us because we got the last 3 goals when Subi eased up.

Not a lot to get excited about. Jarrad Cameron looked lively in the forward line kicking 3 including a nice snap. Brandon Erceg was a very consistent defender and took a number of good intercept marks
Our midfield was dominated by Subiaco's group which included Kitchin and Giro who got heaps of the ball. Our kicking into the forward 50 was atrocious and gave guys like Edwards little chance. Handballing in circles to guys under pressure, fumbling, dropping marks, it was all there today. After an even first quarter Subi were sharper, worked a lot harder and they gave Swans no space at all. Hard to draw conclusions from a scratch match but I think the Lions will be OK this year.

Swans were missing first choice players Palmer, Anderson, Watson , Glass- Mccasker, Ireland, Cipro Mc Lachlan and Jones, so I'm not going to be pessimistic about our prospects on the basis of this result,  but I will be looking for a much better effort next week in the hit out at Lathlain to go into the season with some momentum.

How ridiculous is the programming?!!  Mickey Mouse scratch match down in Bunbury followed up by a game where up to 10 first team don’t play and then our last scratchy gives us a 6 day lead in to round 1. Shambles.

correct, very ordinary planning. If you were going to give key players a rest, it would be this week but we will probably have to play a near full strength side against Perth with only a 6 day turn around as you said
