Hockey Olympian, silver medal,Gold medal winning coach X 2...Worked in a similar role at the Dockers.Played shield cricket for WA in our Golden Era..Been a federal MP...He's a Doctor and run numerous sports administration Jobs including the Australian Institute Of Sport.You can talk about this man for hours.

His role will revolve around the mental aspect of elite sport rather than just footy and a lot of the development will be aimed at the coaches rather than the players from what the article said. Interesting move by Swans.

Oh laddies! I shall come out of retirement for the sake of good sense and intelligent thought. Doctor Richard Charlesworth is widely regarded by most as Australias best ever coach. To say he can't add anything is pure folly and STT has shown his absurd narrow and shortsighted mindset by his statement ' why would a 20 year old listen to him"? I do recall James Hird listening to Sheedy a time or two and I think old father time Dennis Pagan getting a bit out of Wayne Carey. I even know that 90 year old Percy Johnson is widely regarded by all and sundry as a very good modern day coach. Pop back STT my laddie to the kitchen and tidy up that wooden spoon collection my boy and make space as theres lots more to come due to that horrible zone that you bang on about.

I will reserve my comments about the appointment for later.  I will say that there are far more interested in hockey worldwide than are interested in Aussie Rules.

Good appointment. I'd prefer Ric Charlesworth over Greg Harding.

I agree a good appointment by the club in getting in Dr Ric Charlesworth as a mentor to our coaches, players & leaders.
