Wrensted only has himself to blame as he certainly had the ability (B & F's, Sandover medal, and BOG in a winning GF all attest) but lacked the professionalism and willingness to take it to the next level.

TM: Paul Harding was a great ruckman pound for pound there is no doubt about that. The problem with putting Bennett in as the second ruckman is that you would weaken your forward line to do it, as you know.

On Keene don't forget how good he was TM: he was the one whom got the better of the big Victorian ruckmen -- Simon Madden and Mark Lee -- and he also beat Claremont singlehandedly in 1988, rucking againt the Claremont comination of David O'Connell, Melessio and Peter Higgins.

In relation to where Bunton played Keene, we should remember that we had a readiy made full-forward called Clint Brown, whom he insisted on playing in the back line for some reason. Also, TM, I think that given that he and Wayne Loxley converted Todd Breman into a full-forward in 1986, is basically an admission that they had got it wrong in regards Keene's best position the previous year.

When I picked my Subi side I only nammed locals, which is why 'Freezin' did not put 'Stavros' in the team.

Stavros is a local but i see your point - fair call. You and Freez have chosen only club products - we will plonk him in the ClaremontEagles team.

Considering Wrensted won all those accolades in a comp, under big Ron, on a par with the comp he went into with WCE, finished top ten in their F&B that year......just think Toddy coaching style demanded more, which Wrensted didn't respond too....thus my point I reckon if Alexander had stayed coach, Wrensted might of delivered more on the elite stage than he did.....Alexander's style of coaching seemed to get the best out of the guy...but agree Muzza was probably too laid back for his good....did love the odd lager did our Muzza

That last point is very pertinent. Trying to combine elite sport and being a pisshead does not always work.
