8 point game for ducks to get a win away against strong opposition was a good way to kick off the year.

well turtle, if Timmy G goes down, SD might need those 8 points they won on the weekend then!.....not too sure what he has against the EFFC....perhaps it's the cold meat pies the EF canteen sells.....but hey you would have to be an idiot to buy one in the first place....but more so one, to then go and still eat it!!

Good win by the colts boys. Had SD measure in the first half and were 7 goals to 2 up late in the 2nd only to let SD kick 2 late goals and let them back into the game. Bad kicking in the 2nd half let us down but to SD credit their boys stuck at it and were more than competitive. The wind was tricky and the boys’ kicking wasn’t up to the task and cost many opportunities going forward and at goal. Some handy players for Swans were Daniels, Anderson, Nelson and Lill who missed quite a few in front of the sticks.
EF Cripps, Green and Jansen continued their fine pre-season form and were terrific. Franklin was solid in defence and his last ditch effort in the last 30 seconds typified his day. We had some players down in form yesterday but I'm sure they'll bounce back against Peel.

Ressies completely dominated. Cooper, Hancock, Schofield, Cooyou, Simpson, Curley, Howson and Ricca all played. Howson seemed to do have the ball on a string up forward, though his kicking let him down at times. I was very impressed with Simpson and it won’t be long before he makes his league debut. Cooper is all class and was somewhat surprised he didn't make the league team yesterday.

The league team on paper looked great. Losing Youngy in the 1st 10 mins cost us dearly. After a promising start in the 1st qtr we were disappointing to say the least with SD after 1qtr time dominating. Their midfield ran riot and though our guys did OK we were too slow. I think Stav really needs to address this as this is where it cost us in the GF last year. I'd be finding spots for Simpson and Cooper and get Howson at CHF ASAP. Disappointing loss but we need to move on quickly and concentrate on Peel and be 1 & 1 and not 0 & 2.

For a side that lost I will say EF still looked a good unit and will have a say in Sept

Good time for a bye with Young out for maybe 6 weeks. Saw Chalwell was in the bests for reserves. Should be given a chance while Young is out.

ando, good to see someone else is mentioning Chalwell(note BH!!)...not overly tall for a ruckman, but besides him and Byron Pendergast, EF don't have much to fall back on in the coffers TBH....pity Gabriel spat the dummy!

not if the likes of Ibbo and Brennan are playing more WAFL than AFL....naagh SD for me, christ their number 1 goal kicker had a 50 cent piece divet in his lower leg from a spider bite and still kicked 6....on the AFL listed Brennan too.....good ole brave Timmy hate to see how many he would kick if he didn't have a poorly leg!

anyway SD for me because potentially the best footballer of his age in the state can't even crack a game in SD A team......no doubt Dayles time will come but I don't fancy his chances cracking a run in that SD line up.....though Jacob Brennan may of done him a favour testing out Matty's apple crumble orbital region.

EF need active targets up front, preferrably tall ones and with Young out for perhaps 6 weeks minimum, the likes of Perham, MacDougall et al need to step up fast....oh for a Justin Monaco or a Selby Lee-Steere!.....mmmmm things can't be that bad could they? ;)......oh well life goes on....looks like EF forward line will be chocca block full of under 6 footers......come on BOB, Duffy, Dick, Peake Waight, Cooyou etc time to get your goal kicking boots on....and fast!
