The Ressies were good against EP, who hadn’t lost in 2 years. But looking at the Senior list, there’s a fair injury list at present:

Chalmers
English
Schoenfeld
Davidson
Bonomelli
Montauban
Marshall
Smith

All didn’t play either grade on the weekend. They’d certainly strengthen both sides

Far be it from me to play old tunes, but from the outside it does seem that EF have made some odd coaching decisions since the late 90s. Monaghan may prove me wrong, but recycled coaches don’t have a great record in recent times. I think we’d count Spaulding a success. Harris at Claremont, too, though the Claremont board disagreed. Wiley, no.  Prescott is doing alright. I suppose I’m asking why EF have picked not so good coaches in recent times. Dunbar, Wiley, etc. Has Bill done enough?

As FF2 has highlighted, perhaps it goes higher in regards to EF lack of success on and off the park....these coaching decisions are made at that level....on paper though Dunbar came over with a good state league comp record, Wiley is a legend of WAFL and AFL footy, Monaghan is a premiership coach, with many finals coaching experience under his belt....I reckon they were regarded highly at the time as to what was available...though Dunbar wasn't first choice from memory, some other VFL guy called Fitzgerald was?? Bill only got the job because the coach elected went to WP instead last minute.....

I do like FF2s suggestion of say a Harry Taylor with experienced support, not sure Taylor would want it, seems ensconced in Northampton, with the Mid West Academy.....perhaps JK? Well respected, calm demeanour, in touch with the younger generation, with experienced support on the sideline.....Monaghan needs wins and soonish if he is going to get another contract.

I think the type of coaches picked since the last flag have been similar, bar Woewodin. That narrow minded thinking probably demonstrates that new people need to be injected at board level. Having said that, Bill wins a few more games and they’re definitely in more games, then I’m sure they’ll extend him

I guess if wins come, then the board will have no other option but to extend....wonder if they have a set number of wins?

Looks like Murdock may have a tib/fib #, Boekhorst rolled an ankle, O'Reilly concussion.....Schoenfeld and English should be back, Ryan got some decent stats in the reserves match, so he should be back.....with O'Reilly out, does Teakle come into ruck, Strnadica to FF and Marsh stays in defence, like he did in the last quarter?.....or does young Williams go to CHF, played there in the pre-season WCE game, kicking 2 goals, allowing Strnadica to stay rucking.....is it worth doing what Perth did playing two trucks, say Teakle and Strnadica. ..allowing one to rest  in a FP....both over 200 cm, atleast cause some height nuisance up front.....

I would think they should only extend if Bill can take the group forward. If not, see you later- regardless of wins. WP moved Bill on after a GF appearance, as did Claremont. Appears to be the correct decision for both at this stage.
