More to the point Drongo, how about the audacity of a $$$ Subiaco $$$ supporter daring to suggest that a WAFL club other than them, somehow might gain a little financial compensation for giving up exclusive use of their home ground ffs???

DD as has been said many times, we had to pay for the seats in the 2 tier stand, we paid for the clubrooms that sat behind the 3 tier stand, we paid to have them refurbished so they were suitable for AFL events, we developed the business plan to benefit from the AFL using our oval and the game day events we ran, the great fortune we had was that Subiaco oval was our home ground. Yes we, like Perth are more fortunate than EF to have some sort of association with the AFL, I was just comparing their situation of no AFL affiliation to your clubs situation. Our old home ground was redeveloped for one purpose and one purpose only, to serve the needs of the WCE and later the FFC. WP & Cl have and in a few years SF and maybe SD will receive significant taxpayer/ratepayer funded redevelopments at their grounds and a plan has been in place for some time to redevelop Moss St, so dont feel so guilty about what the Eagles have done or will do for your club.

There are no plans for tax funded development of Bassendean Oval.
The Stands are heritage listed and maintained by the Town of Bassendean in accordance with our lease agreement.
We pay the Town of Bassendean in addition to our rates $$ to have the Oval known as Steel Blue.
Private investment in the redevelopment was hindered by the value of land being so low and hence the rate of return for developers also low.

Thanks TRSM, I did see some excellent design proposals for the precinct, sad that it sounds like it wont stack up. A lot of useable land around the oval going to waste.
